Depends on who it is! If the EF looses, it will be a major blow after Switerland, Japan and basically even Oman rejected it in the last few months. There is hardly any possible customer left for them and that's why they are so desperate to get the MMRCA. The French has a long and good experience with India and are frontrunners in several other competitions as well (LUH, tanker, subs, possibly even LDHs) and even Dassault already got a deal with the Mirage upgrade, so we might hear less from them, than from other European countries.
So far all competitiors that lost, were pretty calm, which speakes for IAF/MoD and their professional way to handle the competition, despite of the delays of course.

It is sad it takes 10 plus years to buy a fighter aircraft. I understand TOT makes this case more complex, but it does not justify the wait. If the deal is closed (regardless of who wins), it will be interesting to see if HAL and/or the private sector can handle manufacturing a state of the art western fighter. It will be even more interesting to see if they learn enough to make upgrades to the LCA, MKI, and AMCA after they absorb the TOT.

True, that will be a key issue, because getting ToT is one thing, absorbing and using it in the right way is another and we have to see how that will be handled.
However, we have good experience especially with European licence productions and the JVs that was formed because of the MMRCA offset terms will bring our industry a big step ahead for sure. From this point of view, waiting and getting the most out of the deal was the right decision, although our forces might have been more happy with a faster replacement of older Migs.

And how can i make "productive" comment on an MMRCA thread?
The wholecof indian ministery of defence couldnt do anything "productive" about MMRCA...other than wasting paper and ink by churning out a new hype every other week for the press to print.
I can do better than Indian Ministery of defence now...can i?
