Bangalore, Kolkata and Mumbai has more population than Hyderabad that's why they took this priority, Don't worry Hyderabad, Chennai, Cochin will all be included in next phase.

PDV test delayed. It will also delay AD-1 and AD-2. But remember Indian BMD programme is one of the fastest in the world. It was a smooth development. Lets hope the best for this month's test.



AD-1 and AD-2 are parallel programmes. One is endo, another is exo atmospheric interceptor.

You perhaps misunderstood me - i am not questioning this programme, infact very proud of it.

However fact of the matter is - we have not tested this programme with multiple incoming missile trajectories, we have not tested whether our fire and control is capable of tracking multiple incomming trajectories ( i am sure it is capable- since it is based on Swordfish), etc.

Further if we have just proven this programme against one incomming missile, pretty much sure that in a practical scenario this system will be overwhelmed. So as you stated above - it would not be half of the missiles which are destroyed - it would be just one, and rest skimming through the defences (speculation). I agree with you , one is better than none !! But still ..

Not sure why DRDO/IDS is rushing into deploying these systems - with very less imminent threat on the horizon.

Anyways i am not questioning this to the group, just wondering what would be the reason behind this deployment ? Perhaps it is more of warning Pakistan/China of this capability.

1. I like the decision toimplementation of BMD . we must not delay our program. later it can be improve.
2. none of us can be sure how capable BMD would be.
3. i'm sure that our BMD can tackle more than one threat at a time.
4. the BMD and SAM systems usually have battery. they have many missile and radar system to aquire multiple Target.

Our BMD is excellent, tested against realtime targets. Do not forget NCR is infested by neta and babus, they will never put something bad to defend them. lol

Multi-target engagements is a very basic requirement of any modern SAM or BMD.

What if the chineese launch a swarm of MIRV'ed anti carrier missiles.
After all a CBG doesn't have infinte ammo cheat

Ah! So that means interception at high altitude resulting in a nuke explosion that would cause an EMP which would in turn screw all the electronics of the BMD networks, rendering them non operational so that it's like a walk in the park for the next nuke missile!! Jeeez!

Have they provided adequate shielding to the electronics against EMP? This is so expensive that it would be impossible to provide any effective cover to any city other than the NCR.

1. dude its nuke not aaloo bomb. if you read 9th class chemistry book you may know how nuke work. "when slow moving neutron bombardment on fissible element. the nucleous become unstable and break into two new elements".
3. when ABM hits ballistic missile. there is noway that nuke goes off.
