NEW DELHI: Pitching his government's 'Make in India' campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited US-based General Electric (GE) to manufacture ships in India. "India offers immense opportunities for the ship-building sector," PM Modi said.

Inaugurating GE's first manufacturing plant in Chakan, Pune in India, PM Modi said, "I congratulate GE & assure the world that there are many opportunities in India." "I have seen how a state of art manufacturing facility is today. I want to congratulate GE," Modi said.
PM inaugurated the a multi-modal manufacturing facility of GE. The MoU for the plant was signed with the state Government in 2013. The unit will manufacture a range of diversified products for sectors like energy, aviation, oil and gas transportation.
Modi said, "The opportunities for manufacturing in India are immense. We are blessed with demographic dividend." "We want to move further ahead in manufacturing sector. I assure you that in the field of development & giving employment there are lot of opportunities here in India," Modi said. "On the basis of our youth and talented manpower, we want to take our economy to newer heights," he added.
Stating that Railways can become Indian economy's driving force, Modi added, "We want India's railway sector to develop, get more technology, give speed and make it the driving force of our economy."
"Government focusing on ease of doing business in India; has ensured predictability in all policies," Modi sought to assure. "GDP figures indicate that Indian economy is growing at the fastest pace in the world. Manufacturing, agriculture, services are the backbone of sustained growth," Modi said.
