The market speculates Viettel wants to acquire PT Indosat Tbk, a major telecom company in Indonesia.

Indosat was a state owned company before and then acquired by Temasek (Singapore) and now is hold by a Qatari company. If Vietnam is interested I think there will be less opposition happen on the side of Indonesian government and people. We are already get used to the condition that Indosat is no longer a state owned company. There is a plan before to buyback Indosat but the implementation is not successful. The biggest telecom company in Indonesia which is Telkom and Telkomsel is still in the hand of government and there will be opposition from people if it is sold even to Indonesian people.
