KARACHI: Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) participated in the John Molson International MBA case competition held from January 3–10 at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal, Canada.

The competition was open to top business schools worldwide, and was recognised as the world’s oldest and largest competition of its kind

LUMS clinched second position in its division in the round and went on a tie breaker for the semi-finals where it lost by a meager 9 points.

The event was attended by the selected top 36 universities from around the world who had to present their cases to around 230 judges, all from senior executive positions from the corporate world of Canada.

Syed Nabeel Ahmed, Babar Hassan, Sayyed Sharjeel Musa and Muhammad Shahid Yazdani from the MBA class of 2011 accompanied by Dr Irfan Butt as their coach impressed and awed the competition and its judges with their immense potential, professionalism and intellect.

Another accomplishment was to outperform the top business schools of Asia National University of Singapore and Nanyang Business School, Singapore on the ranking table.:pakistan::pakistan:

I am impressed that Pakistan actually outperformed Singapore's university which is 3rd in Rankings in Asia. Congrats LUMS!

So what exactly do the business schools do in this competetion ?

a) Who can staple more paper sheets together in 30 seconds
b) Who can tell where Srilanka on Map
c) Or do they do any debates on any topics
d) Who can eat more hotdogs

I mean what exactly is the format of these competitions

Great honor but , I am little bit uneducated about these competetions if anyone has more info on how these competetions are graded it would make more sense what kind of knowledge is judged.

But still a great honor

Unfortunately, the point of going to famous schools is not so much what you learn, but who you meet there. It's a chicken-and-egg, snowball kinda effect.

Successful alumni tend to favor graduates from their old alma mater, who then go on to become successful themselves, and the cycle repeats.
