I think the Srilankans wishing to visit TN should first visit North & East SL(Tamil Areas). If they find them welcoming there, they can proceed to TN. They can gauge the Tamil reaction in TN by visiting their own Tamil areas.

Ohhhh After seeing this I really laughed. There are a lot of locals visit north, most of them go at weekends! Some of my relatives visit few weeks ago too. East province became normal before the north province and you can see many local and foreign tourists in those areas. Tamil population in East province is around 35-37% only, Muslims and Sinhalese has similar percentages. Tamil population in north province around 7-8% compared to sri lankan total population. 4-5% of Tamils live in other provinces around the country.

Again,I think it's unfair to an average SL citizen. You can't judge him if some renegade from the Army has committed atrocities against Tamilians.

come on, this Tamil journalist still in the hospital. Again I have to say this done by another Tamil armed group. There are few Tamil armed groups who collect money from Tamil shops in Jaffna, some people are fear to inform police. Last time police captured few members, there are these kind of groups in east province too, few weeks ago they robbed a bank.

I don't find any Srilankan in this forum who said that the ways that their Army adopted to crush LTTE is regrettable and those who committed the crimes should be brought to book. Instead, they along with their govt are busy justifying the atrocities and terming solid proofs like the C-4 documentary as a lie.

Compare that situation to our Red Corridor and Naxal problem. You'll see where they are coming from. We only know what we see on videos or what we read. These people live there dude. It's part of their life.

Sorry we don't use heavy artillery against our own people, neither do I support killing tribals so as to get rid of Maoists. Our forces lost 70+ jawans in Dantewada in one day, but did they go on revenge attacks on the neighbouring villages...No.

At the end of the day, the Govt should have the moral high ground, the thing that Srilankan Govt cannot claim.

My point was if they do go in to clear the naxalites and there is collateral damage would you denounce it? And if some hotheaded Jawan kills the tribals living in the area under Naxal control would you be responsible for it?
I hate what the army did to Tamil civilians there, but blaming common SL citizens and displaying animosity against them is ridiculous!! We are a much more civilized and mature nation that that.

Intentional collateral damage should be avoidable at all cost like shelling hospital. Even in wars b/n 2 countries hospitals are spared but here it was intentionally targeted. How come the Srilankan govt call the Tamils their brothers, when they kill them even inside hospitals.

The C-4 video clearly showed that this not a single jawan going mental, but an organized atrocity with clear approval from the political and militray bigwigs. Also till now I haven't heard any of the military officers who committed this crimes brought to book eventhough their faces are clearly visible.

I haven't seen much sri lankans in this forums, just 3 including me. I have Tamils in my staff and I have some stories who shared with me, I personally have suicide truck bomb experience, fortunately I didn't go to school on that day but we know these things are doing by a terrorist group called "Tamil tigers", it doesn't mean all Tamils involving these incidents. Most Indian Tamils think government attacked to Tamils, SL did an operation against a terrorist group, but what I have seen is most Indian Tamils are sensitive when see word "Tamil". Even the Tamil tigers are terrorists they are Sri Lankans. This terrorists issue ended 2 years ago and Tamils or Army soldiers not dying now. That's the victory that Sri Lanka experience now!

In the C4 video mentioning 40,000 civilians got killed in last phrase of this operation, 40,000 thousand is huge number if such incident happened every family or their relative should be missing! Sri Lanka is a small island, even I travel to one city to another or one company to other there is someone I know or who is from my college, or any one from my relative known.

Any foreigner can travel north, so it is easy to take truth from them, truth cannot hide.

If you believe everything that is reported in a war you are being naive. In the heat of war, soldiers have more to worry about than to follow Geneva convention. Like I mentioned before, we are only exposed to videos and news reports. We don't live it everyday like the Sri Lankans do.

How can you compare LTTE with Maoist? LTTE was a conventional army, not a small terror group when they were destroyed. Do you think Sri Lanka had enough troops to spend as canon fodders?

And for the revenge attacks, there were no revenge attack during the last 3 years of the conflict. SLA conducted the campaign accomplishing every modern military standard. It was the LTTE that had carried out such attacks.

It is a eye opener when someone said that Hospital was targeted. But is can you call a building that doesn't have doctors and patients a hospital even if it was used as such before?

To all my tamil brothers and sister i want you to show that channel 4 documentary to as many tamils as you can - i have done this for sometime and the results are mind blowing to say the least - this documentary literally changes a tamil inside out - all the people i have showed it to are "changed" - it took me some time to realize this but its not just a documentary its a weapon .
