L&T Exports Nuclear Plant Equipment To US
NEW DELHI, Jan 14 (Bernama) -- Reflecting a change in India-US hi-tech trade ties, top Indian conglomerate L&T on Thursday said it had shipped for the first time components for three leading American nuclear power plant operators,

Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.
Larsen and Toubro, a US$9.8-billion engineering and construction company, has delivered four dry shielded canisters for American nuclear operators.
"These canisters form a part of orders of 50 such units for three leading American nuclear power plant operators to be manufactured in accordance with the US code of Federal Regulations and Nuclear Safety Class 1 standards," a L&T statement said.
"At L&T, we take pride in exporting the first nuclear equipment consignment to USA.
This marks an international recognition of our capabilities and also the first steps in participating in the potentially large global nuclear equipment market," M V Kotwal, member, L&T Board said.
In 2008, the 45-nation Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) had lifted a 34-year-old ban on global nuclear trade with India.
The NSG ban was imposed after had India conducted its first peaceful nuclear explosion in 1974.
It had prevented India from participating in international nuclear trade.
