Kerry says Egypt has key role to play against Islamic State

(Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said on Saturday that Egypt has a critical role to play in countering Islamic State's ideology.

Kerry is in Cairo as part of a regional tour to build support for President Barack Obama's plan to strike both sides of the Syrian-Iraqi frontier to defeat Islamic State Sunni fighters and build a coalition for a potentially complex military campaign in the heart of the Middle East. After using Pakistan in their war in Afghanistan, they want to use Egype in their war against ISIL.

@faisal6309

I wonder what game they're trying to play this time. Looks like they just went full pro-Assad.
They are trying to end their lust of war. They will always be fighting their own creation. They are not doing it because of Assad but because of threat to Saudi Arabia and threat to them as well. They don't want another WTC incident to happen.

Egypt has time and time again reiterated it will only get militarily involved under a United Nations Security Council Resolution. However, it has expressed support for the coalition being formed to face ISIS.

There is no credible information on any threat to the US, every pentagon official confirmed this. The mainstream media doesn't report that.

As for Egypt, Egypt's economy is in a mess. They can't do anything. Maybe serve as mouthpiece for Arab world but no one will take them seriously.

Egypt should be the leader of muslim world... or turkey.. only these two nations have human resource to do it.

Egypt won't send anything. This is just some praise by Kerry to make Egypt feel as it has other priorities to focus on. Whilst give the leadership a feeling that they actually influence anything.

they can send instructors to form & lead an effective training program, no language barrier will make it a lot better.

Egypt will not contribute any forces, advisers, instructors, or provide any logistic assistance unless under a United Nations Security Resolution. Egypt is able to contribute forces if need be, it already contributes a large number of experts and troops ( Five thousand troops from the Armed Forces and the Interior making Egypt the fifth largest contributor of forces from 2009) for UN missions in Mali, DR Congo, Sudan, and other missions around the world, a similar contribution would not be unrealistic, however if unable it may provide logistic support by way of the West Cairo AFB and its ports.

I don't think that Egypt has that mate. As for us well, we already do so (credit goes to bastard gov't) BUT WE should not do that. Never. We are Turkey's Turks, not Muslim Turks if the case is Affairs&Politics.

Oh my God you're obsessed with Morsi. So now you admit that Morsi is not the problem. The Egyptian economy is headed towards crisis from the beginning.

What influence are you talking about? Being idiots and supporting war against your brothers and sisters?
