The JVP said it condemned the declaration by the Leader of Congress Party, Sonia Gandhi, that the Sri Lankan Constitution should be amended to give equal status and rights to the Tamil people in Sri Lanka as being hegemonic.

The Leader of Congress Party Sonia Gandhi had made this statement April 5 in Chennai, touching on the national problem in Sri Lanka. The JVP points out that the hegemonic nature of her statement is obvious, and it proves that the position of the Indian Congress Party and its Leader on Sri Lanka had not changed. It also showed that the sovereignty and independence of Sri Lanka had been completely ignored by this statement, treating it as a province of India.

The JVP in their statement said that it regrets to note that Sonia Gandhi had tried to exploit Sri Lankan politics to win elections in Tamil Nadu, showing the bankruptcy of her thinking. They emphasised that India, had many problems in around twenty (20) provinces and the Leader of Indian Congress should give priority to those problems rather than interfere unnecessarily in the internal problems of Sri Lanka. When Indian Leaders including Sonia Gandhi belittle the sovereignty and independence of Sri Lanka, the authorities in Sri Lanka have not done anything about that although they should have condemned the stand of the Indian politicians vehemently. The release further says that all the political parties in Sri Lanka except the JVP seem to keep mum showing that all of them have been dominated by Indian hegemony.

The press release further adds that the JVP condemns the inaction of the Sri Lankan Authorities in the face of the hegemonic attitude of the Indian government not only regarding the National Issue of Sri Lanka but also about the high handed behaviour of the Indian authorities regarding fisheries activities in the northern sea; and that it emphasises that the Sri Lankan government should protect Sri Lanka’s sovereignty and independence.

yep, People's Liberation Front. JVP is 3rd mainstream political party in Sri Lanka.

You've correctly bold the point, I think she hasn't any idea about Sri Lankan Constitution that's why I condemn her statement! There's nothing to implement every citizen has same rights!

So nothing to implement and nothing to condemn. Over.
