Japanese Leader Says, Christianity is Worse than Islam

Ichiro Ozawa, secretary general of the Democratic Party of Japan, criticized Christianity on Tuesday, saying the religion is "exclusive and self-righteous" and that Western society is "stuck in a dead end."

Ozawa also said "Islamism is also exclusive, although it's somewhat better than Christianity" regarding exclusiveness.

The comments will no doubt cause a stir as he is the most influential figure in the ruling party.

He made the comments to reporters after meeting with Yukei Matsunaga, chairman of the Japan Buddhist Federation, a body of 102 Buddhist sects and groups, in Koyacho, Wakayama Prefecture.

Christianity "is an exclusive, self-righteous religion. Western society, whose background is Christianity, has been stuck in a dead end," Ozawa said.

I am not surprised. Japan being a Shinto/Buddhist country and I being a Buddhist myself, I can easily empathize. Most of what the missionary scum do is not shown in media doesn't mean that they're better than Jihadis. In fact, they do the same stuff in a polished fashion. Hats off to Ozawa.

I'm against any kind of missioning, religion is ppl own choice, as long as they respect each other I don't care what they believe in. if someone comes to me and asks me about it, i'll tell the basics and otherwise ask the person to go see someone who's more qualified to answer religious questions

Kamikaze was nationalism.. not religion blowing half the world. Kamikaze pilots didn't flop down on anyone walking down the street. They targeted US navy ships. How can you compare that with Jihad that is ruining even non-involved people's lives? But then again, this is just an excuse to hide Jihad's dark aspects.

Iteresting views on the two religion. Japan is unique in that it is in the western camp and yet its not christian nor muslim and its quite telling they are not takem in by western demonising of Islam relative to christianity
