BANGKOK, 18 September 2014 (NNT) - Japan is reportedly keen to encourage Japanese SMEs to invest in ASEAN and Thailand more while praising the country’s success in quickly forming a new government.
Minister of Industry Chakkramon Phasukwanich on Thursday met with Japanese Ambassador to Thailand Shigekazu Sato on the occasion of Mr. Chakkramon’s appointment as the new Minister of Industry of Thailand. The ambassador expressed confidence in the country following the formation of a government within the time frame, said the minister. The two also discussed economic cooperation between Thailand and Japan in preparation for a meeting with the Japanese Deputy Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry on 22 September.
On Japan’s policy to promote Japanese SMEs in ASEAN and Thailand, the Thai industry minister said he agreed with it. The SMEs would bring with them new technology and management methods, resulting in economic stimulation and higher competitiveness which would help strengthen Thai SMEs, said the minister.
