Japanese authorities have unveiled plans to build a giant 250-mile long sea barrier to protect its coastline from devastating tsunamis.

According to the proposals, the £4.6bn ($6.8bn) barrier would reach 12.5m high in some places – stretching taller than a four storey building.

It would be made out of cement – and actually be composed of a chain of smaller sea walls to make construction easier.

The plan comes four years after a huge tsunami ravaged Japan’s north-eastern coast.

Thanks! Unfortunately it took a devastating tsunami to compel our government to start this. Something that should have been done years ago.
You can't blame the govt.
they didn't knew that Tsunami will be that devastating
but work( like this) they are doing now is really great
I really like Abe and his work

Hmm, what if America took more land aside from California, Texas, Nevada, Utah and New Mexico under the Mexican Cession.

Sometimes i always smirk whenever I read how the US condemning countries about the errors in seizing foreign territories. Hehehe.

Oy Vey!

£4.6bn is small money。

Let's build、build and build。:D

This is just for the Northeastern part of Japan. If it proves effective, and if Parliament approves of further construction, we can expect an expansion of said construction for Central, and Southern Japanese coastline. :)

I agree, let's build, build, build !

Hi,

That is not acceptable----they knew the tsunami would be that devastating---period---but they did not want to believe it.

That is where the problem lies. In not accepting-----.
