Japan Times: NATO is endangering Earth

If NATO really was a defensive alliance, it would dissolve the day after the dissolution of the Eastern Bloc. But this is purely aggressive Axis. And among other things, NATO - is a cultural way for Americans to shift part of the burden of the military occupation of the Earth on its European puppets.

Wither NATO, Wither WP?

The post above implies that the only threat to Nato was the Eastern bloc / Warsaw Pact aka military complement to Comecon. And that this was the only reason for its foundation. Of course, the Warsaw Pact was in part a Soviet military reaction to the integration of West Germany into NATO in 1955 per the Paris PActs of 1954 (thus NATO predates WP) , but was primarily motivated by Soviet desires to maintain control over military forces in Central and Eastern Europe. After the collapse of the USSR and the end of the Cold War, the [Warsaw Pact] alliance was transformed into the subsequent Collective Security Treaty Organization, or CSTO in 1992. In 1992, six post-Soviet states belonging to the Commonwealth of Independent States—Russia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan—signed the Collective Security Treaty. Three other post- Soviet states—Azerbaijan, Belarus, and Georgia—signed the next year and the treaty took effect in 1994. Five years later, six of the nine—all but Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Uzbekistan—agreed to renew the treaty for five more years, and in 2002 those six formally agreed to create the Collective Security Treaty Organization as a military alliance. Uzbekistan rejoined the CSTO in 2005 but withdrew in 2012. The CSTO is currently an observer organisation at the UN General Assembly
