Japan promises Narendra Modi $35 billion inflows, but holds out on nuclear deal

What rubbish??
You know I really think that personal lives of politicians should be kept out of such discussions.Mostly because their personal lives are dirtier than their public lives.

I don't give a damn to what he does personally, but just pointing out that it took our beloved baba 2-3 days to come back to India after UK was hit by the disaster..............

Jinke ghar shishe ke bane rhetey hai woh log basement me kapde badltey hai.............

You're a chameleon. :P

You thought i have become a SECULAR!!!???

Btw I think Japan avoided getting into nuclear deals with India because it itself is planning to shut most of its plants due to outages. Japan closed 8 of its nuclear reactors in 2011 and has plans to shut down the remaining 9 between 2015 and 2022.
So if India was pinning its hope on NPPs then I think it would be all in vain and alternate sources of energy should be worked on.
Naah its got more to do with some important issues like ''liability'' law that is yet to be addressed.things will be sorted out soon. Japan may be shuting down its reactors but they would use its experties and let their companies make money out of a deal even though they may moving away from nuclear power, jus like Australia. No nuke plants but huge reserves, which mean busine$$.

And what better than renewable source of energy?
Nuclear power plant is out of style and would be out of work by 2050.
You sound like a renewable energy advocate :D . For now renewable energy is not enough to sustain our energy needs ,and it will grow at a much faster rate in the future. NP more of a necessity.

Whats about liability law?

Yeah pretty much....
I believe that enough research is not done in this field (Renewable resources) because theres not enough money invested in it.NPPs are a trend and there's lobby which works for it.
Nuclear tragedy is not a joke but a reality and Fukushima was an example.
Renewable resources of energy 're the only way forward.

UK??
Hey bhagwaan!
But frankly would his physical presence have mattered? He wasn't the one flying choppers for rescue missions. All he had to do was to make a few calls and ensure that there were enough choppers and enough troops to help ppl.
And such ppl with a Z security usually visit disaster hit places once the situation is brought under control.

Whats about liability law?

The Act aims to provide a civil liability for nuclear damage and prompt compensation to the victims of a nuclear incident through a nofault liability to the operator. As per the law for each nuclear incident the operator must pay $83million.which certainly doesnt go well with private investors.this is one of the reasons why US hasn't invested yet, perhaps.

well i guess its got more to do with the laws that we have,i mean if its easier to buy solar cells and other componets used in varios reneweble energy projects from china then why would someone invest in R&D and try making these things in India.
India wants NP for military use aswell,so if someone's lobbying for NP in India ,then in the present case senario they are doing a favour to India. And with removal of ban on six Indian companies from japan, like BARC ,i guess we are quite close to sign the deal.

Nuclear tragedy is not a joke but a reality and Fukushima was an example.

Well i guess both will run in parallel. And with research on fusion energy i guess nuclear energy may last longer. I have read somewhere that a lake in 100*100 m size is enough to power a megacity for 50-100 years,it only adds to the excitment.which u may not like :D
this is @nova laser(something out of fusion tech)

The liability law has 2 clauses (Sections 17(b) and 46)which every single foreign country has issues with. They have made the argument that it runs counter to the International Convention on Supplementary Compensation for Nuclear Damage (CSC). hat might limit the ability of most suppliers to get insurance coverage.

The Japanese have been pushing for India to accept more stringent safeguards than what was agreed with the U.S. That's pretty much off the table & the Japanese will either have to agree to dilute their stand or there will be no deal. The Japanese deal is important for India because American companies rely on the Japanese for parts (some American companies are Japanese owned) and a lack of a deal will make it difficult for Americans to deal with India. The deal will probably happen soon, the Japanese know that India sets very high importance to that. If it doesn't, it will be a big setback to India-Japanese relations.
