I think most parts of Canada are rich fertile plain which are more habitable than most part of China which are mountainous areas.

Based on the feedback of Chinese members on defence.pk, I feel that China will 100% veto Japan's entry, but may abstain in India's case, or might even support it, if India keeps its candidature separate from Japan! That is the feeling that I get.

Japan has always been considered as a historical enemy of China.

India has never been considered a "historical enemy" of China. If anything they are strategic rivals, but even then we still cooperate in many fields.

Having India on the UNSC is much better than having Japan on the UNSC.

I am all in favour of good Sino-Japanese relations... as long as Japan is militarily weak, they have no nuclear weapons, and keep their pacifist constitution.

Yes.

Ask any Chinese person who they would prefer on the UNSC, Japan or India.

If Japan tries for the UNSC they will be vetoed. Nothing against the Japanese people in particular, but the Japanese government is essentially in the pocket of the USA. Combine that with anger over historical war crimes, and you've got a recipe for disaster.

I don't really understand what the Japanese actually want. On one hand, they work hard to prevent immigration, which is said to be an attempt to prevent their culture from being diluted. There is also a hint of a superiority complex there, maybe even supposed genetic superiority.

But on the other hand, they are obsessed with everything American and go to extreme lengths to imitate as much of American pop culture as they can. Even though this is done mainly by the youth, the adults don't seem to discourage it. This could only indicate an inferiority complex and an effort to imbibe superior westerns practices.

As for the security council seat, I frankly think that the Japanese have missed their chance. There was a time when the whole world was obsessed with Japan and it was the next big thing. Now all they have is an rapidly aging population and increasing labor costs. Maybe they shouldn't have waited for 20 years....
