'It just rang': In crises, US-China hotline goes unanswered

You think China should just play a dumb lapdog that should just take in whatever shit message the US DOD wants China to hear after provokingly shooting down Chinese weather ballon.

Who can't look up the meaning of the word HOTLINE in a dictionary, let alone understand what it is for? A dumb lapdog, of course.

Oh, and for future reference, a HOTLINE is not used to call in a Chinese Takeout Order either. :D

Why should the Chinese take the hotline to hear US shit message.

It;s the chinese who are dumb to not shoot it down.
You are so smart a**, why don't you ask all the countries to shoot down any balloons floating in their airspace, .You are so smart, you Indians want another episode of Galwan ?

whatever...but was there a crisis after the balloon was shot down ?

The crisis started when the balloon entered US airspace. A phone call at any point related to that whole episode, including the aftermath of it being shot down, falls within the purview of the hotline being used appropriately. Refusing to take that call as a miffed teenager only shows extreme diplomatic immaturity on the Chinese side. If they had any sense at all, they would have called first to let the US side know the balloon was headed into US airspace.

Was the hotline call initiated by US after or before the shoot down?

It does not matter. The goal of a hotline is to communicate during times of crisis. China should have made the call first to let the US side know. If they had any sense, that is. Which they demonstrated they do not. And then followed it up with showing their immaturity as a teenager by not taking the call from the US. Dumbasses!

whether china viewed that as a crisis & made a hotlne call is debatable..
why US not made the hotline call as the first sighting of the balloon ?

Did the US defence say it was not a spy balloon at the beginning?

Using the hotline as a courtesy to give a heads-up that one of their aircraft was out of control is the necessary and traditional step between superpowers. China clearly is in the wrong here, not just with the balloon, but with their hotline teenager antics. Piss poor show, in fact.
