Hamas doesn't know what exactly happened. The point was Israel invaded Rafah during the cease fire to try to take advantage of it and made the excuse that they need to occupy for a search operation.

Turns out they lied about the whole thing and knew he was dead from the beginning during a clash. Your IDF has stated this clearly.

Agreed. Remember that Rafah had no enemy presence in it. It is a city in southern Gaza. During the cease fire Israel began deploying forces secretly. Hamas soon found about this and sent reinforcements into Rafah, they already had a smaller number there which clashed with the invading forces.

Israel made up this story to give itself an excuse to occupy the city and began shelling indiscriminately leading to deaths of at least 120 civilians in the first hour in that city.

Later we have them clearly stating that never happened.
