My definition is the historical and factual definition.

Makkah and Madinah are ancient Hijazi cities that are several millennia old and predate Islam. It's inhabitants are natives and for 99% of its history those cities have been ruled directly by fellow Hijazi empires, Caliphates, kingdoms and dynasties. Continues to this day with the exception of it being another Arabian dynasty from another ancient historical region of Arabia (Najd).

Every country is "artificial" genius. Arabia is the oldest historical region in the MENA region with the oldest human presence outside of Africa. Arabia was already a well-defined region and word millennia before Iran even existed.

KSA was never a British nor Western colony and was united by a local dynasty (House of Saud) and is composed of ancient historical regions of Arabia. Hijaz, Najd, South, Eastern Arabia and Northern Arabia and everything in between.

KSA is the richest country in the Muslim world in terms of natural riches, minerals etc. Trillions of USD worth of treasure. Largest sovereign wealth fund in the region as well.
