It seems I was wrong about specs of missile, according to GlobalSecurity.org page on LY-60 the missile apparently has a range of 18km and can reach 12km altitude thus allowing the system to take down high flying aircraft. This is a very, very good addition to Bangladesh air defense if true and will allow engagement of MAF trying to avoid FM-90.

"Compared with the HQ61 with a range of 12 kilometers and maximum altitude of 10 kilometers, the LY60 has a range of 18 kilometers and reaches a maximum altitude of 12 kilometers."
Layered air defense is needed, China uses LY-60 with LY-80, and FM-90. BD will get LY-80 soon I hope.Nah, silly to buy this as BD needs to go for MRSAM.
HQ-16 ER can hit targets out to 70km and that would be the perfect complement to the existing FM-90 SHORAD.

Seems they need LY-60 for some reason, if they need it then they need it.BD can not afford so many types of SAMs. Defence budget is only 4,.5 US billion dollars.
FM-90 and HQ -16ER will provide protection from 700m to 70km.
HQ-16 ER covers the engagement envelope of LY-60 and so LY-60 is superfluous.

Maybe they want LY-60 for individual point defense, and LY-80* for area coverage which makes a lot of sense. Each battery of HQ-16ER is likely to cost 80 million US dollars.
LY-60 is likely to be much cheaper.
MRSAM tender specifies a minimum range of 40km and so HQ-16ER is likely to get the contract if BD goes with China.

Yes it can, but Chinese doctrine also uses LY-60 for point defense. LY-60 is the equivalent of Kub, LY-80 is the equivalent to Buk, and FM-90 is the equivalent to SA-8 Gecko. All 3 systems have different roles, but layered together are very lethal.FM-90C can do point defence.

What is the reason BD is trying to acquire LY-60 then if I may ask? They must have seen some benefit received with it.BD does not have the money to afford this luxury.
FM-90 and HQ-16ER will more than suffice to thwart Myanmar and also de useful against India.

Why would it be on the poster?I do not think this is likely to happen.
It does not fit into BD planning.
