It is not possible to lay a pipeline in Himalayas and KK ranges. Don't think Iran can sell gas to China via Pakistan

Iran to export gas to China via Pakistan

TEHRAN: Senior Iranian oil ministry officials have announced that Islamabad has decided to transfer Iranian gas to China.

“Iran’s advantage over its rival countries (Qatar and Russia) is its location between two big gas consumption markets, China and Europe,” Iranian oil ministry’s website, Shana, quoted Managing-Director of the National Iranian Gas Export Company (NIGEC) Hossein Bidarmaghz as saying.

He went on to highlight China’s growing need for gas and LNG, saying that its consumption would equal all of Europe by 2030.Bidarmaghz said if the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline is extended to China it will facilitate gas exports to the country, adding that Iranian and Chinese officials would review the matter in future.

The multi-billion-dollar Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline deal, which was signed in June 2010, aims to export an annual amount of up to 21 million cubic meters of natural gas to Pakistan. The project was originally known as Iran-Pakistan-India (IPI) pipeline project. Iran, India and Pakistan held tripartite negotiations over the project, which was also known as “The Peace Pipeline,” until New Delhi’s vacillation caused Tehran and Islamabad to continue talks bilaterally. New Delhi finally left the trilateral talks over differences with Islamabad on issues such as the fee Pakistan would charge India for gas transit.

In October 2007, Iran and Pakistan began a new round of talks in Tehran, where the details of the deal were finalised. According to Iranian and Pakistani officials, the pipelines will soon start operation.

India and Iran discuss the oil pipelines via Oman under sea to avoid Pakistan.

TEHRAN, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- An Iranian official said Sunday that India and Oman are considering to import natural gas from Iran via an under-sea pipeline, the official IRNA news agency reported.

The caretaker of the National Iranian Gas Export Company, Hossein Bidarmaghz said, an Indian delegation will travel to Tehran for talks on building an independent under-sea gas pipeline, said the report.

"New Delhi has a plan to build an under-sea gas pipeline between Iran and India, in order not to pay any transition fee for delivery of gas," Bidarmaghz was quoted as saying.

If an under-sea gas pipeline is built by India to Oman, Iran can build a similar pipeline in deep waters to join that pipeline for export of gas to New Delhi, Bidarmaghz added.

There have been some agreements between Iran and Oman on making the project operational in cooperation with a third country, he was quoted as saying.

According to the report, based on a trilateral agreement between Iran, Oman and a third country, Tehran will provide natural gas to an Omani liquefied natural gas (LNG) factory in order to convert it into LNG and sell it to the customers.

The South Pars/North Dome field is a natural gas condensate field located in the Persian Gulf. It is the world's largest gas field, shared between Iran and Qatar. According to the International Energy Agency, the field holds an estimated 50.97 trillion cubic meters (1,800 trillion cubic feet) of in-situ gas and some 50 billion barrels of condensate.
