Iran is to start producing the 99 seater Anatonov-158 Jetliners from next year, in a joint venture with Ukraine. Under the deal the planes will be assembled in Iran with 30% of parts also manufactured locally and the rest of parts imported. The deal will complement the earlier Iran-140 regional airliner which is already being produced in Iran since 2005.

An-158 is the stretched version of An-148. The plane is designed to work as a commercial jetliner but also has the capability to take off and land on unprepared airstrips and can double as cargo planes working under difficult conditions due to its unusual design.

where in Iran and who will build the 30% of the Aircraft?

other than that, nice to hear. :)

The same plant that makes parts for An-140, in Isfehan.

In a few years time we will hopefully create our own.

Iran had announced afew months ago that they will soon go ahead with first test flight of a locally designed and manufactured 150 seater jetliner. It has been quite since then and no news has come out on the status of the national jetliner.

And this is Iran-140 which Iran is already producing inside the country. HESA the company that manufactures it will also manufacture An-158 (Iran-158?):

Recently Iran announced a carbon fiber factory. If they can integrate some ingenious developments this could be add some new life to old tech. A carbon fiber made propeller aircraft? Anyone?

Maybe. But it is not easy to take a standard part and design a new one based on carbon fiber or composite plastic. The process of standardization and certification will take considerable amount of time and resources and lots of money. It took Boeing to the verge of bankruptcy with its B787 which uses carbon fiber and composite plastics extensively. And still this technology is not proven and has its critics. Many experts object that such a plane is prone to catch fire or for minor onboard fires becoming major fires and thus would be more unsafe than normal aluminum-titanium planes. The world is waiting to see how B787 will perform in coming years and whether this new technology will be the future of flight.

The range of An-158 is 2,500 Km when fully loaded. This can be a good regional aircraft for PIA too since internal routes in Pakistan are shorter than this specially if we go for a joint venture with Ukraine too manufacturing them here in Pakistan.
