Here is a video from 1970, Iran well before revolution. The difference between now and then is really amazing.

The Iranians actually revolted for greater freedom, but they got a repressive Islamic Govt in return.

Sex plays a large role in politics. In 1970's Iranians wanted less sex but now a significant minority of Iranians want more of it.

Actually I think they revolted because too much (sexual) freedom was being promoted in a conservative society. Some people liked it but majority got shocked and revolted.

Actually I did a little research about 1979 revolution. Actually Shah dig his own grave by giving free/ subsidized education to Iranian youngsters. After they attained education and became more aware of the world around them, the young Iranians questioned the validity of the regime that helped them to get that education at the first place. They demanded more freedom. Also the communist party (Tudeh) also played its part by organizing strikes and protests. The Khomeini was symbol of protest, but Khomeini was no fool. After the Shah was deposed, he quickly filled the void by his Islamic scholars (as they were the only organized institution left in the country). Also he 'took care' of the Tudeh Party.

He learnt from the folly of Shah and created backup for everything
Now Iranian Armed forces is countered by Revolutionary Guards...Parliament by Guardian Council...President by Supreme Leader. Iran is now virtually coup proof.

Yes, they did revolt for sex. They did in Iran. Anyways, I agree with the rest of your analysis about back up model. That was really brainy of you (to discover it) and of Khomeini (to design it). But my question is why no other political system ever employed it?
