Who knows, PLI scheme under which all this expansion is taking place had a clause to create supply chains within the country.

May be , but it's certainly better than the inaction by the previous government over promotion of indigenous manufacturing, modi isn't the best , but he's certainly better than other politicians in the arena who are mostly thiefs. BJP has done more infra investments in the last 9 years than what congress did in 60 years. So it will take time. But we'll get there, it will take a decade for everything under construction right now to shine and reach maturity. Congress has been lethargic since it's inception and hence people don't wanna vote for them anymore.

If you think that there are no supply chains in india , that just shows your lack of research, we are making PCBs and doing SMT here, there are a few Chinese companies who have component manufacturing plants here , samsung is making components for it's galaxy series in it's largest manufacturing complex in Noida along with display panels. Xiaomi also has a shit ton of local suppliers , there are indian companies like dixon technologies involved in contract manufacturing of smart phones and components. I request you to do some research before making hilarious claims

There are no stats , but some of it has to be indian supplied. Even if it isn't , tata has set up a component manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu for iphones. All three of apples contract manufacturers have factories in india and have been expanding ever since. Foxconn being the most committed partner.

They don't have the expertise and are unreliable. They don't have the market either. Apple didn't come to India out of the goodness of their heart, they saw an opportunity and took it. The company is growing at double-digit in India sales, at least 50% every year, so it's natural they will see the market as an opportunity.
