but i think all the sea harrier is not fly at that time. and rytnow there is only 8 sea harrier is in fly condition. so can anybody give some light on it. I mean which kind of f/a will fly from the deck. ???

Hi sudhir, he said that the carrier has enough life left, but not for what role! INS Viraat could be used as an helicopter carrier for disaster relief, or troop landing roles next to INS INS Jalashwa. The difference between both vessels is, that the Viraat can transport troops and cargo only with helicopters and has a large hangar for them, while the INS Jalashwa has a well deck for landing vessels and a hangar for a vehicles as well. They both could form a stop gap solution until the 4 new LDPs will be operational.
Imo, the Viraat could be used in the anti piracy role as well, using it as a mobile base in front of the Lakshadweep islands, carrying several naval helicopters, special forces and with the necessary space to imprison the pirates. IN would have to operate several Frigats to cover the same area, have the same number of helicopters, or special forces and could be much more effective.
All this can be done with the Viraat in the coming years, if it is still in a good technical condition, but the role as a prime aircraft carrier is not realistic anymore. We have too less Sea Harriers, which are limited capable compared to Mig 29Ks, although they might offer good CAS in case of landing operations.

We should wait till we get IAC1 and INS vikramaditya, India should at least have two operational CBG by the end of 2020.
