I thought the missile deal with Israel for Barak 8 collapse? Basically, they are commissioning a destroyer without proper air defense?

Aug 14/14: INS Kolkata. Media reports indicate that India’s new 7,500t air defense destroyer INS Kolkata, which is set to be commissioned on Aug 16/14, will be armed with Barak-1 missiles until the Barak-8s arrive. The article doesn’t explain whether the vertical launchers are compatible, or whether the Barak-1 has been integrated yet with the IAI Elta MF-STAR active array radar that equips the new destroyer class. On the other hand, India is likely to have 3 Kolkata Class destroyers ready to go by the time they’re done testing the Indian LR-SAM, so they’ll need to do something. With respect to the Barak-8s:

“The missile is ready, but [DRDO's] boosters to propel the missile [upon launch]… have failed.”

Not true. We have 6 Type 052C destroyers, 1 soon to be 2 Type 052D destroyers, 17 or 18 Type 054A frigates, all of which are Chinese ships. What do you have?

Not true. We have 6 Type 052C destroyer, 1 soon to be 2 Type 052D destroyers, 17 or 18 Type 054A frigates, all of which are Chinese ships. What do you have?

Does anyone ask anything about your ships?
We can fit our ownsystems in this ship.
But Indian Navy dont compromise their quality.This is stealth destroyer.So if you need to push it in to maximum punch you need to armed this stealth machine with most advanced system in the world.
False pride and ego consumption of indigenousity dont ensure its complete potential.

Seriously, no modern navy is going to commission a destroyer lacking aerial cover for their CV in nowadays. I can bet IN is the first. Barak 1 is basically a point blank defense and not air defense cover for CV.
