I liked the idea that a states’ share of tax revenue will now depend on forest cover it would 've maintained. Now it feels that Indian government has stopped being myopic, and that it is making long term plans. Hats off!

+ I think this is a very smart way of incentivising the states (the ones who really have the power on the ground level) to engage in socially desirable projects.

I hope in the future the central govt expands this to poverty, literacy and infant mortality metrics i.e. the states that perform the best in developing its people get the most revenue- this would really give the state govts a kick in the backside and I'm sure deliver some tangible results.
