Inauguration Devi Prasad Sethi commented, "This first international standard of planned healthcare has been introduced in Bangladesh."
He inaugurated the newly constructed hospital near Pahartoli Eye Hospital in the city on Saturday morning.
Dr. said the chief guest. Devi Sethi said, Imperial Hospital new additions to proper and improved healthcare in Bangladesh. The number of Bangladeshi people going to different countries including India, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia for better treatment is increasing every year. Due to the establishment of this hospital, the trend of going abroad for the country's patients will be greatly reduced.
Dr. Welcoming the statement of Devi Shetty, the former minister and current MP, Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, thanked him on behalf of the people and patients of this country.
He said the founder of the Narayana Institute of Cardiac Science, Bangalore, was associated with Imperial Hospital. Thanks to Goddess Seth.
It is known that this spectacular hospital has been constructed in the area of 6 lakh 60 thousand square feet of 5 acres of land on 5 buildings. All medical facilities have been arranged in this hospital. There will be regular services of 10 percent of the distressed patients. Regular service of 62 consultants in the outside of the hospital.
The department of cardiology has been named Imperial-Narayana Cardiac Division.
Where services from doctors of Narayan Health and Imperial Hospital authorities in India will be operated.
President of the inauguration ceremony MA Malek said, "We want to offer the highest service in this hospital." This initiative is not only to gain profit but also to reduce the lack of healthcare in the country including Chittagong.

‘Imperial Hospital’ to provide world-class healthcare service

Activities of the state-of-the-art privately-developed ‘Imperial Hospital Limited (IHL)’ are going to start very soon to provide standard healthcare service in the port city.
The entrepreneurs hoped that the 375-bed hospital of international standard will bring significant changes in health sector of Chattogram after starting full operation.
Initially, treatment at some departments including pediatric, oncology, radiology, cardiology and orthopedics will be started, said the hospital officials.
The hospital is also featured with blood bank, pharmacy, imaging, dialysis, full range of diagnostic and therapeutic services along with the emergency department, they said.
The largest private healthcare centre of the port city was developed on an area of seven acres of land in the city’s Pahartali area, adjacent to the Chittagong Eye Infirmary and Training Centre.
It will have 88 single rooms, 76 double rooms, 64 critical care beds, 44 beds for newborn, 14 modular operation theaters, 16 nurse stations, 62 consultant rooms and eight ICU beds for pediatric patients.
Trained local nurses along with the foreign ones will provide the patients with standard healthcare services.
With a unique feature the hospital will also provide accommodation facilities for attendants at 40 rooms, they said.
Sources said Indian ‘Narayana Health’ and the IHL will jointly operate a ‘Cardiac Centre’ to offer better healthcare service for the patients. The management has also a plan to set up a cancer centre where all types of cancers will be treated.
All types of information of the patients will be preserved on online so that they can get hassle-free services whenever they visit the hospital, said the officials.
Besides, the organisations will jointly arrange training for physicians, nurses and technicians to increase their professional skills.
Organic wastes of the hospital will be disposed off following proper procedures set by the government while the multidisciplinary specialised general hospital will have Nurses and Allied Healthcare Training Institute.
The hospital authority informed that they will lay emphasis on three important matters including checking infections, securities of patients and the hospital staff to ensure standard healthcare service.
To facilitate the services laundry, kitchen, central air-conditioning system, 22 elevators, fire fighting equipments, medical gas system, captive power system, waste management, bank, prayer room, gift and utility shops, central cafeteria and provision for helipad services will be there.
Mentionable, Chittagong Eye Infirmary and Training Centre Trust (CEITCT) took the initiative to develop the ultramodern hospital while some other entrepreneurs extended their support to it.
The hospital authority informed that though World Bank (WB) doesn’t invest money in health sector, they provided Tk 200 crore for developing the hospital for the first time.
The hospital authority signed a contact with Austrian-based healthcare consultancy group ‘VAMED Engineering GmbH & KG’ for construction of the hospital in 2015.
Austrian Engineer Strohmayer Siegfried was assigned as Project Director (PD) for implementation of the construction work while USA-based reputed healthcare architectural and engineering consultant firm Kaplan McLaughlin Diaz (KMD) prepared the drawings.
Construction work of the hospital in the picturesque hilly Pahartali area began in 2015 and ended at the begging of this year.
The hospital Board of Trustees Chairman Professor Dr Rabiul Husain said one of the main objectives of developing the hospital is to offer world-class treatment along with reducing dependency on foreign countries for healthcare services which cost huge money.
To ensure health care services of international standard, IHL will appoint senior consulting physicians, highly trained and experienced nurses and technical staff, he said.
Some of these employees will be recruited from abroad in the initial years of the hospital, said the chairman.
Referring to tendency of going abroad for treatment, he claimed that the hospital will be able to provide full-fledged treatment to the local patients.
Some 10 percent beds of the hospital will be kept reserved for providing treatment to distressed patients, he added.

As far as i know, imperial hospital is a venture of some renowned professor of opthalmology and limited company.
It is a project of 900 crores taka, even World bank investing around 200 crore.
Only the cardiac centre is associated/ affiliated with Dr.Shetty' hospital. He has minimum investment or no investment at all. But this type of collaboration is good for our health sector.

Good initiative,
1) cost of treatment should become lesser now.
2) patients will pay in BD currency.
3) patients who were earlier traveling to India will now save on travel & accommodation cost.
4) the hospital will also help local doctors gain knowledge.
Even though it is a private establishment and not some charity , some of the hospitals in India have certainly helped poor patients get affordable treatment. ppl stop obsessing with profit, if profit was the main concern there are other places to focus on.
My only gripe is the name of the hospital "Imperial hospital" which resonates more with british/colonial hangover. Could have been given a better name.

I would say the healthcare system is good and the govt has taken steps to make it more affordable for the poor with Ayushman Bharat/PMJAY scheme. One problem that remains is that there is dearth of good hospitals in far flung rural areas....So access is an issue.
