Indian company reports on 1300 MW Khulna plant

If this plant comes online by 2015, then the implications for the power sector in Bangladesh cannot be overestimated. Even by then it would add around 15-20% to the total generation capacity of Bangladesh.

To get this into perspective, imagine India added 60GW of power in a single power site. The importance of the two proposed coal and the nuclear power plants cannot be stressed strongly enough.

are you sure india got one power plant of 60gw?
even the three gorges dam has 25gw capacity.

I smell hidden ploy of eveil hindu baniyas to keep Bangladesh in 'Dark'... :taz:

Shytstorm predicted.
I think not for BD members at PDF lol
Another master plan by evil yindoos to exploit BD:cheesy:
I see dark, gloomy future of this thread!

I agree. Its a clever yindoo plan to use BD soil to produce electricity which will be then smuggled away in unmarked trucks back to India where they will be uploaded back to grid. BD should never fall for this yindoo plan but instead depend on friend China to supply power over the Himalayas to BD through satellite.

Down with evil yindoos. BD shall live in dark but not surrender to this evil master plan.

Well, now that you guys know what you are, Start the Rain Dance!
You never know where the lightning strikes!

Anyways its a joint venture, keep it professional
no point in dancing like sissies .

I cannot understand Indians cannot build decent coal powered plant without chinese help yet they intend to take the whole challenge single handed in bangladesh?? Is BD becoming guinea pig for Indian companies?

Back up your claims. Cause NTPC alone produces more electricity than the overall production of any other South Asian country. ;)

growth_chart2.jpg

The total installed capacity of the company is 34,194 MW (including JVs) with 15 coal based and 7 gas based stations, located across the country. In addition under JVs, 5 stations are coal based & another station uses naptha/LNG as fuel. The company has set a target to have an installed power generating capacity of 1,28,000 MW by the year 2032. The capacity will have a diversified fuel mix comprising 56% coal, 16% Gas, 11% Nuclear and 17% Renewable Energy Sources(RES) including hydro. By 2032, non fossil fuel based generation capacity shall make up nearly 28% of NTPC’s portfolio.

The problem is unprofessional+ism or something among you guys.
A local private group alone won a bid for 1000mw last May.

This joint venture deal will only be another deal among 40+ others.
Why make such a fuss among yourselves.
Well I hope they finish the project in time.

There are 2 coal-fired power plants of 1,300MW each that Bangladesh wants to build with India by 2015. There is also a Russian nuclear plant with 2,000MW capacity. The significance of this mega-project is that if this one can get successfully implemented, then the others will follow as well.

Bangladesh needs to focus on power, road, rail and ports in the short-to-medium term to increase economic growth to 8%+ per year and this project will help immensely.

I'm all cool about this 8% economic growth potential
but I'm seriously alarmed by the inflation it will result.

Its not a good thing for those who lives in the streets.

I think BD made a mistake....BD should invite PAK to build to power plant...lol...

Well that all depends on good economic policy more than anything really.

China had inflation less than 5% every year during the 2000s when it acheived economy growth of more than 10% a year. Interestingly the IMF predicts an inflation rate of 5% for BD a year by the middle of this decade with a GDP growth rate of 7% a year. I am sure that with good economic policies BD can still have an inflation rate of 5% a year and GDP growth of 8%+ in the medium term.

It's a joint venture project, not charity by india. India gets part of the revenue and that's why they are here.

I think you are confusing India with pakistan.

There are dozen of Indian companies like NTPC, BHEL, Tata, Adani, JSW, Reliance, Jaypee, Lanco etc. etc. that builds 100% Made in India power plants and not only that they also export and build power plant all over the world.
