That should be the right thing to do, but you must remember majority of these fence jumpers are armed smugglers, who'd rather shoot at BSF than to get arrested.

Till that time issue of rum to attacking troops was authorized. In the dark of night the attacking force lost way and landed into the middle of the village.

2. Our villagers did exactly what any village would do if it found armed and drunk intruders charging around. The villagers pounced on the intruders with whatever they had - bamboo sticks, spears, matchets, kitchen knives, picks, shovels, everything. The intruders soon got isolated and were lynched whenever cornered. Our BDR could rescue some, but a good number had been hacked to death. We understand SSB had a company wiped out. Our BDR lost two shaheeds including an NCO who, firing his LMG from a night lay, had really broken up the attack.

BSF did the right thing.If this girl managed to cross the border then BSF would have been blamed for poor security at the border.I know a Commandant in BSF who told me that BSF takes all sorts of precautions to protect innocent lives but sometimes hard decisions have to be taken for the sake of National Security.
