Well for an Indian it is. I have family friends in Lucknow who have relatives in Karachi and are married to people in Pakistan. For an Indian getting a visa to Pakistan is very very tough. And if this chap managed to go to Pakistan several times, thats "having links to Pakistan".

Yes you are right. In India itself there are terrorists of all faiths. Its the responsibility of Indian Govt to contain them and not to spill into other countries. Lets wait for the verdict. I am sure MEA would throw its weight around...lets see

I personally think it is far likely for him to be radicalized in Algeria with Wahabi extremism than it is in Pakistan. While Pakistan has a pretty strong Deobandi influence, it has a very weak & limited Wahabi/Salafi influence. Algeria is full of Al-Qaeda terrorists, & their affiliate Wahabi/Salafi terror groups.

My mom was born & raised in India, & I have been to India 3 times in my life, & that includes Bihar & Jharkhand as well. Doesn't make me a Naxal supporter. As you said, it is common for people in Lucknow to have family in Karachi, & marry relatives there. So those visits to Pakistan could just be regular visits.

It is. If you are of Pakistani origin (no matter what passport you hold) its very tough to get into India and vice versa. I know because when I went to Pakistan, despite holding an Australian passport it took me close to 7 months to get a visa. Usually for an Australian passport holder it takes about a month to get a visa.

True, he probably was radicalized in Algeria, but I doubt he went to Pakistan to see relatives. Him being a Tamil Muslim the chances of him having relatives in Pakistan is quite slim. Apparently his dad works in UAE. If he ever lived in UAE as well, there is a good chance that it all started there.

Educated muslims doesn't buy this jihadi propaganda, the only way to shield them is to spread education among them, specially the poor and underprivileged ones. Since they are the one most likely to get brainwashed.

This theory was proved wrong long ago. Have you seen the profiles of new-generation jihadis- they hail from middle class background, educated to at least higher secondary level (if not higher), technically proficient and 90% of them were radicalized when they were studying in college. Also they are willing to sacrifice their lives for the cause like the Indian doctor who conducted a failed suicide bombing in UK.

PS. I came across a Hyderabadi Muslim who was a chemistry graduate who was 100% convinced that 9/11 was an inside job. So education is not a shield against radicalization and ignorance.

Actually, it wasn't proved that he was innocent. They didn't have enough evidence to prove he was guilty so he was let go. But there was evidence he was guilty, such as the fact that his mobile phone was used by his cousin in the london airport attack.
