WELL M777 is through gov to gov sales and BAE BOFORS system has won 4 times in all the trails conducted by Indian Army .

Yeah i was also thinking about these two. I think these two are sure. Bofors stands till last in every competition conducted by IA.

Actually we will be purchasing 3-4 types of artillery like ultra-light, self-propelled, towed etc.

NDA was in power for so many years in between but they did nothing. All are same.

Most of the leading artillery manufacturers are banned by the MoD. I thought they really bought M777 on fast track basis to meet instant requirements of Indian Army. But there are some clouds over the deal again. We can hope the deal goes well during visit of army chief to US.

Now few good sings....

1) Bhim project have been revived.
2) DRDO developing a new 155 mm artillery.
3) OFB also designed and developed some 105 mm artillery.

According to Ajai Shukla ARDE produced a 185 MM artillery Gun. Hope that project is revived.

Apart from Ajay Shukla, any other source to confirm this. If its true, then they should produce it.

Its good to hear that we are thinking of giving chance to private firms. But army should have taken decision way before for including DRDO in this field. This will further delay the induction process. I hope we consider purchasing other types of artillery which are on the list and leave this one for DRDO.
