yesterday, an interview of indian army chief was broadcast on "headlines today". the indian chief spoke on majority of issues. here is the summary for benefit of all members:

1. corruption in armed forces: On the issue of corruption in indian armed forces, he said that convicition of a senior Lt general should send out a clear message to every one that corruption of any kind will not be tolerated irrespective of rank.

2. Reduction of troops in kashmir: He said that he was in favour of troop reduction in J&K only after necessary political atmosphere has been created. this includes political dialogue with all segments of society.

3. Modernisation of chinese armed forces: he said that each country has right to modernise its armed forces and china is no different in this regard. the chineese modernisation plan had four phases and military modernisation was included in the last phase. he said adequate steps are being taken so that indian armed forces have the necessary capability to defend the nation against any attack.

4. Threat from china: on the issue of threat from china he said that some segments of indian media have blown this thing out of proportion. He said a "threat" is credible only when intentions are bad and presently it is the opinion of indian govt and armed forces that there is no bad intention (in terms of war) of chineese govt in this regard.

i think the indian chief has given a matured reply on all subject matters.
