if the Russians want India to play the mistral cards with France for them then they should return the favor by doing something concrete ........
Supplying choppers to an perceived enemy doesn't help much in confidence building......

F-35 is the best jet India needs badly, otherwise, J-20 & J-31 will make a mince meat out of Rafales & Su 30s.

Donot want to derail an Indian thread, but Pakistan already prepared with its 4.5++ Gen 18 F-16 block 52s. So its been catered for.

Engine issue is not a major problem....the prototypes r out already.

We dnt want to get permission from USA for any action of our airforce, US fighter plane has lot of restrictions before using them so India simply dnt allow any such rules.

Sorry to burst your bubble but the F-35 is nothing special and overpriced. The FGFA/PAK-FA is the Russian answer to the F-22 so will be more than enough for the J-XX series. Heck, if I was a J-20 pilot I wouldn't be so dismissive of the Rafale- it is one of the few fighters to actually "kill" a F-22 (in a joint air exercise) and its passive and active electronic sensors are absolutely world-class.

I find it as intelligent move by Russia. Making such claim on their national news paper will create a trust issue between India and France. They will put blame on each other and can be a reason for cancelling the deal. So, it is an arrow in dark which might hit for Russia.

Everyone knows with AWACS & AEWS, AESA counts for crap. A AWACS with 300km+ detection range, can detect AESA Rafale from far off, until F-16s & JF17s or Chinese SU 27s, can pick them with there PESA radars. So wat u think now is not a big deal.

Rafales will still be hunted down...like Mosquitos.

Till now they dnt have any other option apart from F35, this is only 5th gen aircraft available for export till now (all other are in development) and countries you mentioned are old customer of USA hardware.

But we can choose any one either F35 or PAKFA/FGFA
