India to Sell Warships to Vietnam, Increase Footprints in South China Sea

They have been asking us since 2012. It was that loser MMS and his Italian Owner who kept skirting the deal so as not to 'anger lord China'.

Yup, cut the deal as fast as much. And give the contract to GRSE or to Pipavav.

Everything is right in this report except the shipyard. GRSE is probably the worst Defence shipyard in India. Workers Union there is very strong and it takes hell lot of effort on part of Officers to get any work done.

I expect for one time, atleast for foreign orders. Govt. should check how the private shipyard would work, so my preference is Pipavav.

Provoke China? When the china provided nuke and missile to Pak, it didnt provoke India. When China provided F-22P frigate, it didnt provoke India?

When China provided Al-Zarrar and Al-Khalid tank, it didnt provoke India. And latest, when China provided JF-17, it didnt provoke India? What you expect from India? I can tell you if India sit ideal, the China arm every South Asian country against India.

Enough is enough, and enough of this bullying tactics.
Fair enough but I think for now India needs to focus on itself, modernising its forces, improving its economy and addressing the social issues within the country and in 5-7 years it can start to play a more aggressive role on the global stage but right now India is not in a strong enough place domestically to start getting embroiled in others' issues.

This is just my opinion.

yaar... i don't feel right, every report keeps on mentioning 100 million credit line.. as if we have donated 10-20 $ billions to them..
pichle 2-3 saal se ek hi baat sun rahe hai.. when are we really going to supply them...uff...

Bro, really we need export order too. And there is no requirement in navy for 3000-4000 tonne frigate. Give the blueprints of Kamotra to Pipavav or L&T or any other private shipyard, who capable of building Frigate. Give them some incentives.
And grant them any foreign order of that frigate to them, most likely of Vietnam.

1st Benefit: It open the market for private shipyard in defense. Then they can design there own, and take orders from foreign customer to sell it.

2nd Benefit: It increases the Indian export.

3rd Benefit: It create a leverage in Vietnam and other market where we selling.

4th Benefit: It signal the Chinese, that if you going to create problem for us, then we also going to do the same. Pure diplomatic stance. And no need to say a thing, if Chinese ask, then our counter argument would be why arming Pak?

BTW, it would be pure and simple business, like our Chinese do with our some friends.

Agreed We need to stay focused completely on domestic issues at least for the next decade

Those morons was interested in Nehru style rule with absolute zero interest in foreign power play.Because if they do that they
cant concentrate in their internal stupid rule.
Just look at the diplomatic effort of Modi.
You can imagine the foreign disaster poliy of last UPA.

We were almost on the verge of a collapse in 2013 in terms of foreign policy, with that Italian hag creating havoc across Indian politics. NaMo single-handedly saved India from drowning in the sea of International Affairs.

Engaging Vietnam, training officers from Philippines and Indonesia, learning jungle warfare from Vietnam in dense tropical conditions and supplying these countries BrahMos-armed warships should be done on immediate priority.

Not to mention, help develop infrastructure, military healthcare, research in military foods and laboratories etc.

Southeast Asia is as important as Far East Asia. We have been too focused on just developed countries.

Be pragmatic, why provoke China? If India keeps arming Vietnam and the Philippines do you know what will happen? Sooner or later that region is going to go "hot" and I for one have no interest in seeing Indian forces go to far in some far away battlefield and dying for some "friendly" nation's interests. India is not the global or even regional policeman.

This was what UPA was good at; @$$-kissing threats while they continued to arm our enemies to teeth.

Nothing will go hot. Indian military will never enter into any binding alliance except with Nepal, Bhutan and Mauritius for obvious reasons. Our point is to help those countries who share same threats as us and devleoping a strong understanding with them.

We cannot continue to ignore the increasing threat in our neighbourhood and not identify those who share the same menace as we do.

Either eat or be eaten.

Vietnam is a country that has taken on the most powerful countries around the world head-on.

Their will power and love for their land is world famous. Their fighting skills are respectful and they have the capability to stand against any threat. They have done what many bigger countries including us, have failed to do due to pathetic leadership, despite a powerful military, in the past.

We need to start taking initiative to develop India's own capabilities and interests. And if our interests are similar to friendly countries, then why not help them?

What warship?

Warship that China make a dozen in a week?

India should gift,not sell,warships to Vietnam。:D

I'm glad you also agree that India should export class warships. I agree with you also that any Indian naval export should come with Brahmos.
