India’s $1.34billion Mi-17 helicopters to start arriving by March 2011

Chinooks have a diffrent role to these workhorses i think they are part of another tender along with some attack helicopters we aim to get I just hope we go for Apache Block III they would come in handy.

The Chinooks are complicated helicopters both in terms of maintainance and operations. Yes the approach is better when compared to the Mi-26 and occupies lesser space, the Mi 26 infra is already in place. Why just go for a few chinooks and have a logistical night mare? The IAF is already having one. Trust me flying a Chinook is also a bit harder.

(a the risk of making the pakistanis' day)
then it'd be better to go for the mi-26...heaven knows we need to learn flying and maintaining stuff.....our aircrafts are dropping like flies
