Russians knew from the very beginning that Mig-35s won't be selected. How can we risk our security with an aircraft which is not even used by its producing country?

the russians probably developed the mig-35 because they were certain it would meet the requirements of countries like India. probably Indians created a list of those requirements and still went for rafales.

it's undeniable russia, and more importantly MiG, did not like this. MiG might need to fuse with Sukhoi and has lost money due to the bungling.

There was nothing out of the box in Mig-35s, just a TVC engine fitted in a Mig-29m, nothing as Mig-35 ever exists. Go figure

India gave Russia contract for mig-29k and ordered 45 of them. is it not enough?
And don't live in so much probabilities rafale is not final yet it may be EFT
if India had given list of specifications to Russia then India would not been made a competition for mmrca

Besides the common heavier platform, Russia has also agreed to jointly develop a lighter fifth generation fighter tailored to meet specific requirements of the Indian Air Force (IAF).

Its something new. How many fifth gen fighter we need? I hope its AMCA, not the Mig one that India actually interested in.

Interesting given that we were discussing about "Russia snubs India" yesterday.

strategic partner ? how? wasnt it more like buyer and seller relation . even in the 80s during first Afghan war it was India who needed Russia for exploding bombs in Pakistan more than Russia needed India for anything .

Yes, it is just a buyer and seller relationship. Indian defence procurement on many occasions virtually bailed out the Russian economy.
