LOL...the BN has a requirement for 2 training submarines and 2 active submarines. BN have been in talks with, Russia, Turkey and China for the past year to buy either 2 modified kilo class, 2 updated HDW 209 built in Turkey or 2 export versions of the type 39 from China. The TI article is almost a year behind, BD is buying 2 old ming subs refurbished for training, building a sub base and buying 2 new subs.

How bad is the TI journalism? The BAF has already rejected a offer of help from HAL and the indian gov to upgrade the migs more then a year ago...lol.

True, India only ever made a prototype. And the fact that India is making a nuclear sub without ever produced a conventional ones on its own remind me that India was trying to jump to a service based economy without industrialized first.
