I know the word chamar or bhangi signifies the occupation of shoe maker and a sweeper, but what it conveys depends on its usage.

A bhangi in India is a sweeper.

you can not change the bloodline but you can exchange the profession. so if bhangi is sweeper then why cant a high cast hindu be called a bhangi?

no maam its not that simple and im yet to see a so called "high caste hindu" doing a job of a sweeper as a profession

on the contrarry some times when my help dosent comes on time i do sweep the floor of my office with a broom so does than makes me a "bhangi"

yes....but then this is going on in various other cultures n in other continents as well. making a gov for the people but more busy looting from the ppl......
but since we r talking about caste system....yes we have the problem. but instead of becoming lame a$$ critics , one must remember , we as a society gained much more equality than maybe what we had 50 years ago. My point being, in such a complex arena of indian diaspora, any concrete change in mentality will take a long time.

Saving whom or what from humiliation? The people I referred bring a lot more humiliating stuff to their fellow countrymen. I don't have to quote them, just follow their pathetic comments about their own countrymen and you will know what I am talking about.

well jana ji in india its a criminal non bailable offence if you call a chamar a chamr , nai a nai , bhangee a bhangee or use words like shoodr or malaich which pakistanies regularlly use in there lingo and we can see that on almost all the pakistani programs and specially on PDF

well caste system is almost a thing of the past in india rather now the so called "higher casts like kshatria, baniya , brahmins" are facing a reverse caste system as they cant have indian govt jobs or admission into mediakl or enginearing or any other educational institution (even booking govt build flats) easily deu to "reservations for shedule caste/ shedule tribes"

-are u saying that the bulk of the "general quota" doesnt exist ? or there is some new "comission" which makes it illegal for the kshatria, baniya , brahmins etc to apply for the above mentioned jobs ?
-are you saying that there is absolutely no bias against the ppl from SC/ST communities ? not even in the rural areas ??
-do you honestly think that caste system is a past in india ???

yes sir SC/ST are majorities now
yes sir bulk of genral quota jobs are not filled deu to varus resons like corruption
well there is a bais but it has more to do with lack job & educational opportunities for geral catagorry and illogikal govt quotas to feul there vote bank politicks
no there is still caste system in india but not even a fraction what pakistnies think of
