India & Japan to go for $10-bn currency swap

So basically, someone "anonymous" says that they "suspect" something might happen in the "future".

And an Indian like yourself converts that into: "You guys dont even spare your closet ally."

Logic fail.

You are expect logic from the kind of people who said, we are going to beat China by 2010, 2012, 2020 but right now they are worred about their own financial turmoil!

LOL, let's see if Indocribs can explain his ridiculous logic.

I can see the mutual admiration society ! But can you really argue logically with the article ?

Please explain how you went from -> Someone "anonymous" says that they "suspect" something might happen in the "future".

To -> You guys dont even spare your closet ally.

I'm all ears. :P

The article never said " anonymous' . THere has to be some one in Pakistan who questions Chinese intentions .Now if you want to fool gullible Pakistanis like somebozo , be my guest. The more gullible Pakisanis , the better for my country !!

Now if we can get back on the topic... India Japan currency swap

Hahahaha, so who were these anonymous "insiders" then, and who do they speak for? If they spoke for anyone official then they would be able to give their names right?

And yes, there is this guy called Najam Seti (spelling?) who does question Chinese intentions. However the vast majority of Pakistanis favour China as shown in the polls, and the Pakistani government too... and that FAR is more important than a handful of contrarian commentators.

Yawn, $10 billion notional on a swap is peanuts. This is notional. India runs that deficit in a month.

New Delhi: The Reserve Bank of India will enter into a $10-billion currency swap arrangement with its Japanese counterpart, Bank of Japan (BoJ), this week. The move would strengthen the Indian central bank’s armoury to tackle any liquidity crisis and volatility in the currency market.

Under the deal, the two central banks will supply each other with up to $5 billion from their foreign currency reserves for possible market intervention, in the event of a financial turmoil.

For India, the swap arrangement is all the more important and it might actually draw into the facility, given the situation of net capital outflows, an exacerbating current account deficit (which could climb to a troublesome 4.9% of GDP for the Oct-Dec quarter) and the weak composition of reserves. India is struggling to meet the projected level ($72 billion) of capital inflows for this fiscal and even the most optimistic forecasts don’t put the figure above...

If 10 billion USD is peanuts for you, then what is 10 billion Chinese Yuan for you ?

"An official handout said the bilateral currency swap arrangement has been concluded in 10 billion Chinese yuan and 140 billion Pakistani rupees. The programme will expire in three years, but can be extended with mutual consent. Pakistani importers can pay for Chinese goods in local currency".

Relax and don't bang your head against wall. Let them continue offtopic , but you stay on topic ok.

It's more like DPJ's new route of independence policy in the economic field.

I would say that the right path, in a way considering the US's itself in dire straight.
