India: Hotel employee rapes UK woman

A 55-year-old woman from the United Kingdom was raped by a 28-year-old employee of Lalit Hotel, IT Park, Chandigarh, on December 20. However, the police registered a case against the accused under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code on Friday based on the victim’s complaint.

Police sources privy to the investigation said the woman had come to the hotel with her partner. The duo took a knee massage in the hotel on December 20.

According to the police, the man tried to touch the woman inappropriately above the knee while massaging. When the woman objected to the employee, he said he was checking the pressure points.

Her partner also took the massage with her. The police sources said the employee crossed the line when her partner left for taking a steam bath. As she was left alone, the employee sexually assaulted the woman.

The police said the act of ‘wrongdoing’ falls under the preview of Section 376, IPC. The woman told the police that the man kept on insisting the woman put off her clothes.

The woman immediately made a complaint to the hotel staff, after which they terminated the employee. Meanwhile, the duo left the city to another station in between.

A week after the incident, the woman lodged a complaint with the IT Park police stations against the hotel employee.

A 28-year-old masseur of a five-star hotel in IT Park, Chandigarh, was booked for raping a 54-year-old UK national staying in the hotel, police said on Saturday.

In her complaint to the police on December 27, the woman said that she had gone for a foot spa where the accused raped her on December 20. The accused is absconding and belongs to Bijnore in Uttar Pradesh.

Police said the woman had come to Chandigarh on a tourist visa on December 19 with her male partner. The woman told the police that the accused, while giving her massage in the spa, touched her inappropriately and without her consent. After giving her partner a massage, she said, the accused raped her.

The police said that the woman had complained to the hotel authorities the same day but lodged a formal complaint only after returning from trip to Shimla on December 27. Sources in the police said that initially the woman was indecisive on lodging a formal complaint.

The woman was visiting India to learn more about the local customs here.

The police said that the hotel’s authorities sacked the accused the same day. When contacted, the hotel authorities were tight-lipped.

“Efforts are on to trace the accused. The medical examination of the complainant has been done,” Chandigarh senior superintendent of police Nilambari Jagdale said. The complainant’s statement before the magistrate has already been recorded.

The case has been registered under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the IT Park police station.

Sources said the police have summoned the hotel authorities to find out why they did not inform them about the incident the day the woman complained to them.

Not really india is a different country . totally different identity. Pakistan was created for a reason . reason being seperating us from Hindu mindset. India is very very inferior culturally , intellectually and morally to pakistan. For example Australia, United states, Africa all had indians who were wiped off by the white men. I agree with you on this... it happens a lot in the west...first have fun and later if someone finds out...claim he forced himself on me.. he raped me.. In fact, I think some women really go for this otherwise after all these stories of rape, still they go to such a place is beyond me...If one cares about his life..will he or she go to a war zone just to spend some holidays while there are plenty of peaceful options available?

you are right. women can decide at any time that they have been raped even after months or years. or someone else can convince them that they are raped and must destroy the guy they had sex with earlier

I live in islamabad i have a house there. I live in shenyang i have house there too. But india is fucked up i have zero interest to visit india, i see indian media, indian movies indian tv on the internet and news like this. I would never advise anyone female especially to visit Rape-istan.

Freakin foreign females local females 10 years olds even raped. In "india" every five minutes. Islamabad or whole of pakistan is 360 degrees different.
