India gives 'LoR' to France for buying 26 Rafale-M fighter jets for Indian Navy

Only a fool will consider J10CE to be better than Rafales

why is Indonesia buying 42 Rafales from france and not J10CE like PAF
Why did UAE order 80 Rafales
Why did Qatar buy 36 Rafales
Why did Egypt buy 24 Ralales
Why did Greece buy 18 Rafales
Why is Saudi Arabia negotiating for buying 54 Rafales

most of these countries barring Greece should have no problem ordering J10CE , given their good relations with China

Rafale is without a doubt a beast, it has cutting edge missiles, jamming, engine etc, but J10C is also an amazing 4.5+ fighter jet, it is a great counter against the Rafale, the long range pl15e is a game changer for Pakistan.

Is Indians are getting 126 Rafales the plan of buying 126 Rafales is scrap by IAF

Yes the contract to buy 126 Rafale was done away with becoz of budget constraints and replaced by batch purchasing with upgrades
IAF took 16 years to Induct 272 Su30MKI between 2004-2020 , with orders being placed in four batches ie 50+140+40+42

however the main mistake in this was that all the Su30MKI were identical , this was a mistake and now we are ordering the final batch of 12 Su30mki as replacement for those aircrafts lost to crashes over last 19 yrs. These aircrafts will act as a testbed for the Super Sukhoi upgrade and will come with enhancements that will be added to further 168 Su30MKIs which were inducted after 2010.
India is not upgrading the remaining 92 Su30MKIs because these airframes have completed 50% of their service life and will begin retiring in 2040 and IAF only intends to upgrade those airframes that can serve 20 yrs after the upgrade

IAF bought 36 Rafale F3R in 2020
Indian Navy will get 26 Rafale F4.2 in 2025
I do expect IAF to get a second batch of 36-44 Rafale F5s around 2027 becoz buying any other aircraft in this category is stupid

the additonal buy of rafale indicate that GOI have low confidence in the ability of indian made jets.. Instead of mass producing tejas , india seem desperate to buy outdated rafale that cost far more than the sticker price.

where is tejas ? wheres AMCA ? why the low confidence on make in india weapon system ?

Mass production is a complex process. And in democracy it's realy slow. But watch next 10yrs, now speed will increase exponentially.
Only thing India is and will struggle is Engine as Indian politicians are not willing to spend the money required.

Good but we would have enough J 10 by than. The real issue is India MMRCA contract. India made a terribly wrong decision by just ordering 36 only. You should have ordered 126 and than addition of these 26 will have made a real impact.

You are spot on...Our defence purchase is a cash cow for politicians as well as defence people. So i guess, the cancellation of the contract may be related to corruption within our establishment. Otherwise, it is even crazy to think that the entire process of MMRCA went on for more than a decade. And when it is finalized, it is cancelled.

PL15E used by Pak has 145km range

Tejas is Under production

Total orders for Tejas amt to 340 Jets across 17 Squadrons compared to that the combined Airforce and Navy orders for Rafales are expected to be no more than 98 to 124 jets across 5-6 sqds .

Tejas MK1 - 40 aircraft across 2 sqds already inducted
Tejas MK1A - 83 aircraft across 4 sqds , deliveries will begin starting feb 2024

These aircraft will replace the Mig21 Bison

Tejas MK1B - 97 aircraft across 5 Sqds , these will replace IAF Jaguar IS with deliveries starting 2027

Tejas MK2 - 120 aircraft across 6 sqds, these will replace Mig 29 and Mirage 2000 with deliveries starting 2030

HAL currently has a backlog of 300 Tejas and it will take them 10 yrs to deliver the entire lot, with each batch incorporating improvements over the previous lot, with the entire MK1 AND MK1A batches being upgraded to MK1B standard

AMCA will take time and i expect the first aircraft to enter service in 2035-37
AMCA will eventually replace all non upgraded Su30MKIs

Why indian navy do not use Navalized Tejas for their carriers and wasted so much hard earned money to buy french jets which are export versions and not the fully capable Rafale

Because the LCA Navy Mk1 (not Tejas which is the IAF name for the LCA) did not meet the mission requirements in terms of payload, endurance and range. The undercarriage was heavier than it should've been and its design wasn't optimized either

The Aeronautical Development Agency was working on a new LCA Navy Mk2 design both with and without a stabilator but the IN changed it's mind and stated that it did not want a single engine fighter anymore. Once that decision was made, the LCA Navy Mk2 was abandoned

Now the ADA is working on a Twin Engine Deck Based Fighter (TEDBF) which has cleared PDR and is now in Critical Design Review stage.

irrelevant comparision , tejas is a LCA centred around point defence roles , rafale is medium weight multi role fighter. HAL orderbook already has 123 tejas jets
