India bans TV reality shows from prime time--Agree or not

Personally reality TV is really SAD. I mean seriously who even watches that tripe.

I completely agree. Such reality shows are usually peopled by washed-up celebrities trying to extract a last few bucks from their status....sad really.

But there are those who live by such shows.
To each his own, I guess.

I am not giving my verdict on morality or immorality of Indian tv products.

I am just asking your about your opinion since Indian members here are saying since these Indian shows are affecting morality and spreading obscenity hence these should be banned.


At personal level i find Nothing constructive portrayed by Indian entertainment channels therefore as a Pakistani i consider these Indian tv products not worthy of wasting our time and i am for banning these in Pakistan.

IMO, Indian TV is more about quantity and less about quality, but I am not a good judge because the only channel I watch is NDTV, that too on the internet

I would say that about 5-10% of Indian TV content is actually well-written, shot and worth watching for a non-Indian audience. So in that you are probably right.

But then you come back to the good old 'Let's Ban It' conclusion. IMO, Societies that impulsively ban this-and-that because they think it might have an 'adverse effect' on the populace are heading for trouble. There IS a remote control, you know.

On another note, I remember that in Jammu in the 80's we would get Pakistani TV serials- they were far far ahead of Indian serials-beautifully written and acted. My favourite was 'Dhoop Chaon'? Maybe I have the name wrong. There was some short-haired Zeba actress in it that I fell in love with....

Indian soaps may be crappy but then why do pakistanis for that matter all south asians watch them ?

Indian soaps have hardly any vulgarity . I have never even seen a kissing scene in the soaps .they are mostly for kids it seems.
