Rail accidents are not unusual in India

At least 39 people have been killed and dozens injured after a train derailed in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, officials say.

Nine coaches and the engine left the tracks near Kuneru station in Vizianagaram district, the head of East Coast Railway, JP Mishra, said.

Many people are still trapped in the wreckage and rescuers warn that the death toll could rise.

It is not yet clear what caused the train to derail.

The area where the accident occurred is known as a Maoist hotbed.

Mr Mishra said the injured had been taken to two nearby hospitals.

National railway spokesman Anil Saxena said emergency teams had worked through the night to try to locate survivors.

The crash happened on Saturday evening as the train was on its way from Jagdalpur to Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha state.

Train accidents are not unusual in India where much of the railway equipment is out of date.

Last November, more than 140 people were killed in a derailment in India's northern Uttar Pradesh state.

In March 2015 another accident in Uttar Pradesh killed 39 people and injured 150.

Rip to the dead. A superpower need to take care of its people first. Otherwise, they will be the next Soviet Union.

Instead of building subs and planes that kills its own soldiers because of bad workmanship, India should focus on updating its decrepit infrastructure to save the life's of its own citizens.

Very true, China as a SCS superpower is already on this path of slow disintegration with Taiwan already functioning like an independent nation

and many Hong Kongers considering Hong Kong a colony of China

I guess forced womb scrapping of women and then further extracting organs has its consequences and the breakup is an eventuality.

When Indian Govt was responsible for the worst man made famine of Great Leap which led to death of 40 million Indians would you really think Indian Govt cares about its people.

So by talking about Taiwan or Hong Kong, does that make the Indian trains safer? Also, since you like to bring up Mao and his big famine, Nehru instituted his forward policy against China and the rest is history. Sad India.

You were the only who mentioned super power and Soviet Union.

Taiwan and Hong Kong independence movements are result of Chinese Govt not taking care of its citizens.

It was you who insinuated the train wreak was a case of citizens not being looked after.

Maybe its your Taiwanese ethnocentric bias of relating a train wreak in India to break-up of China

Indians are the ones talking about becoming a superpower. All I'm pointing out is that a country can't be a superpower without safe infrastructure for its people. This thread has nothing to do with Taiwan or China. Stop deviate from the thread, which is dated shabby Indian infrastructure as stated in the article that caused this train wreck. Open up another thread if you want to discuss China or Taiwan.

This is weird first you insinuate superpower China is going to break up like the Soviet Union and now you do not want discussion on it. :o:

Maybe you have confused this thread for something else and are on the wrong thread.

Nowhere the article has mentioned the phrase "dated shabby Indian infrastructure".

Either your translator has failed or you are confusing a lot of things today.

So is it modern fine quality Indian infra that is causing the incident. Read it again,. Also, the one country that brags about becoming the supa Powa is India. Compare the India superpower site on Facebook with that from China. Russians recently even trolls India on this topic.

I read it again the article makes no mention of the phrases : "modern fine quality Indian infra" or "dated shabby Indian infrastructure".

Maybe your vile hatred for China has overworked your brain and play mind tricks

So? still doesn't change the fact you insinuated China getting balkanized like the Soviet Union.

I can understand as a Taiwanese you hate China and wish for its extermination.

Tell me what you read. What did the article said about Indian infrastructure?

It's sad to hear the news.
It's worse to see modi's defenders here ignoring the precious lives, instead, having more interests glorifying such terrible debacles and deflecting such critical issues which should be addressed seriously.

And they think they are defending India. In fact, these people are bringing more shame to India than these man made disasters themselves. With this prevalent mentality among even educated, how they can ever reach their superpower status that everyone of them are talking about with such a conviction, from the president to street vendors?

India's founding father bragged about exporting Indian women to USA for some nasty purposes, what else can be more shameful than that

Exactly.
Instead of bringing in constructive suggestions, they in PDF prefer jumping up and down, deteoriating the image of their country further down.

I'd rather treat them as flase flaggers who intentionally worsen a country's reputation.
Whatever is left of their image. India's shabby infrastructure and lazy nonnchalent workers are things known in the west. How many times has Indian trains detailed since 2016?
I disagree that these indians are false flaggers. They represent the real Indians of the world.

railways need to invest heavily in improving infra, and Indians should agree to pay more for their journey... currently tickets are subsidized nearly 50%..

Indian government needs to find a way out of this vicious cycle. There are more things that Modi can do to Indian rail systems than tweeting.
