Imran Khan Visit to America Ignored by Late night shows ?

But you gotta give it to trump , he is far more vocal about even the tiniest success he gets, so if he gets to solve Afghanistan, he will have the boost he needs , Remember Obama he was failing in election for his second term and than OBL happened and boom goes his popularity .
I wouldn't say that Obama "was failing in election for his second term" but in 2008, IIRC, he was the ONLY candidate who publicly vowed to invade Pakistan without the GoP's permission if necessary. If he hadn't taken out OBL then in 2012 he likely STILL would have been the most hawkish candidate. So successfully taking out OBL might not have made much of a difference in the swing vote.

IK was right there is no banning of Media or anything -
"No banning" is not the same as press freedom, don't you realize that?

... every Journalist in Pakistan one way or another throw shit at Army , ISI , Govt and Judges without any repercussion.
That's the way it should be but that's only a part of press freedom. In Pakistan there's censorship of political views, threatening of journalists, attacks on media houses with little or no police follow-up, all fuelled by the prevalent official attitude that Pakistan's media exists to support the military's now-favored government and therefore not to question it anymore.

...as IK said, when we ask these Media houses , how much tax you pay, how these so called Journalists have huge mansions in most expensive places in Pakistan ? how they got those luxury cars so they say, " Media black out " etc
IK appears to be alleging that the media may be getting compensated via unsavory means. The implication is that he'll sic the gov't on them. I don't doubt that has a suppressing effect, do you? At best, raising this issue brings up the larger issue of uneven - that is, politically directed - enforcement of laws in Pakistan. At worst, it carries the spectre of unlawful harassment of journalists by the authorities. (at least, I hope that's the worst.)

These latenight shows i think are irrelevent becuase most people now adays get the news using social media. By night people knows what is happening in the world as they use social media.

his popularity increase after that incident for sure .

but our PM or President don't call them Fake news, so by that standard Media is more independent in Pakistan than is in America .

whoa Whoa hold on, Where is censorship ? if you mean by blocking Zardari interview than he is a criminal his case is in Court he is not allowed to be on media . Threatening Journalist ? who is threatened ? any evidences other than he say they say kind of gossip ?Which media house was attacked ? Geo ? Do you know what Geo is doing ? his owner is under investigation for Money laundering and taking money from Foreign Agencies . Military is irrelevant here .

Do you even notice that only those media houses are crying who are actively supporting Indian and foreign narrative ? Have you see ARY crying ? a lot of media houses are denying any suppression of media or journalist so why should we listen to likes of Geo or Hamid Mir ?

There you go. Maybe you don't even realize what you're saying?

Just saw this thread. For starters the average American has no clue who Imran Khan is. Around the time he was here, the Mueller Appearance took the spotlight and most of America was zoomed in on that. So it was not a question of biased coverage, it was simply a lack of interest. If he achieved anything of consequence, time will tell. I don't know if he did. It was not even on the evening news as a one liner

If you guys played cricket instead of baseball you would know. Imran Khan is the Babe Ruth of the cricketing world but rolled into President.

Actually its not lack of interest....Its due to ignorance...Most people don't even follow up on Afghanistan anymore in US. It seems that they want to look the other way.

Bret Baier of Fox News on his evening show did a interview with Imran Khan I did see snippets of coverage in the afternoon slot on all major networks of course ever since Trump was elected it all about "muh interference" and "Mueller"

As you guys have noticed that Late night shows has become a very vocal voice in American and World Politics and they cover almost everything from Politics to Sports , specially news that include Trump . Every time Trump say something racist or dumb they are all over trump or republicans but I can't help but notice that not even a single Hosts from these late night shows has cover Trump Imran Khan meeting ? Why ? I understand Trevor Noah because his show is full of Indians so I doubt he would cover the story and even if he did that will be negative . But I hear nothing from Stephen Colbert , Samantha Bee , John Oliver etc ? There was no Mainstream media coverage except Fox I guess , CNN and MSNBC were weirdly quite about it ? Even when Trump has said something cringe-worthy about Afghanistan .

What would be the reason for them to completely ignore the meeting, which discussed a lot of important things like Afghanistan and War on Terror , Was it on purpose or just a Eh Attitude of these corespondents towards Pakistan, I remember almost everyone of these hosts are quick to mention Pakistan every time a Bad news comes out of it , but this whole Trip of our Democratically elected PM was gone unnoticed ?

This is how Trevor Noah Describe PM Imran Khan when he was elected ..

and this is how he cover recent Skirmish of Pakistan and India, where later he Apologize to Indians for his satire , So What happened to Freedom of Expression ? What happened to using Satire ?
Trevor Noah apology ..

there are tw0 types of media in USA

1. conservative
2. liberal

conservative notaly fox news is laughed upon as tabloid by liberals and vice versa..

all you put above is liberal media..liberal doesnt mean liberal as see it (as they dont care about kashmir or human rights..)..liberal agenda these days india glorification, india is the new God, so anything remotely pakistani will either be supressed if cant be mutilated (how would you explain the 30,000 jalsa) or mutilated(Washington post busy in posting about gulali etc)

i am pretty sure CNN etc said no to PM interview..the reason why he went to Fox

think of fox as ARY and rest media as GEO just MORE extreme ends..

IK's US-visit just didn't get the press from MSM, let alone from late-night talk show hosts. He doesn't have the name recognition compared to other leaders.

IK should've of done what Musharraf did and visit the Daily Show.
that wouldnt have worked..it was different time..before the establishment interest in india
just the walmart -amazon interest in india are more than what pakistan can offer as a whole

Trevor is a fantastic comedian absolutely love him his impressions are hilarious its pity he didnt cover IKs trip
he is liberal why would he..he will be fired if he did anything..even a funny pro indian reference got him under fire ("kayon tang kartey hu....da da da..") it was nati pakistan pro indian reference still almost made him cry

What ever you want to call it - my point is it did not exactly get too many people's interest. Most people here don't even know who Imran Khan is

LOL! Probably so! I watched cricket once. Some Indians and Pakistani students playing. I mostly went for the delicious food, and ice cold beer ( Kingfishers?). One of the guys tried explaining the game to me...
