Anyway, this is not IMF therapy. This is part of the government's plan to set its books in order according to standard financial practices. Even here, the rise should apply to all slabs, since the government must remain committed to removing energy subsidies that it simply cannot afford.

That is still cheap. We are paying on average 28cents AUD 1KWH.

But one has to look at the purchasing capacity in Pakistan and it might be back breaking. However, those who are consuming 300 units per month can afford it as well.

Have you checked how much subsidy we are getting? Well now days subsidy is only for elite class and industrialists.

If govt. Is doing exorbitant agreements for their own comissions why a common man should pay for their deeds. They are not catching theives but putting more burden on all so they can recover their losses.

Any subsidy, small or large to the rich or poor, is not good financial practice, and one that the government simply does not have the money to afford. And, the government has given its commitment to IMF to remove energy subsidies. The longer it delays this commitment, the worse the pain will be at the end, for both the gurnamint and the paying consumers.

Relief is only for theives, politicians and industrialists. Nothing for mango man.

I can only imagine the difficulty middle class and poor of Pakistan are going through. No jobs, no skills, no opportunities. All I can say is subsidies can only be given with money you have. Right now, GoP has massive debts. And they need to be dealt with. Otherwise how can the nation end these issues? I am a PMLN partisan but as i have said many times before on other threads I support IK 100 percent. He won and he is our leader. Criticism is the duty of both the majority and minority parties. On this point I support the decision to end subsidies. But i don't support the inaction on massive subsidies given to white elephants like PIA, PSM, etc. I also dont support the moves by Civil Service to increase salaries done at federal and provincial levels. If the people must suffer then the elite must suffer as well.

I honestly don't know what the future of this govt is. Why IK isn't making swift decision is beyond me. PIA needs to be killed. PSM needs to be sold off ASAP. Get whatever one can. And move on. If we are expecting the poor in this country to pay western level rates for electricity we have no right to be subsidizing useless projects like PIA.

Rate increases after 100 unit,rate file for 100 is different,200 is different and so on.

Thanks to these hikes through the years since 2008, even DC inverters are no longer affordable.
