That is still cheap. We are paying on average 28cents AUD 1KWH.
But one has to look at the purchasing capacity in Pakistan and it might be back breaking. However, those who are consuming 300 units per month can afford it as well.
The title is misleading and does not correspond to the story linked.
Anyway, this is not IMF therapy. This is part of the government's plan to set its books in order according to standard financial practices. Even here, the rise should apply to all slabs, since the government must remain committed to removing energy subsidies that it simply cannot afford.
Have you checked how much subsidy we are getting? Well now days subsidy is only for elite class and industrialists.
If govt. Is doing exorbitant agreements for their own comissions why a common man should pay for their deeds. They are not catching theives but putting more burden on all so they can recover their losses.
Any subsidy, small or large to the rich or poor, is not good financial practice, and one that the government simply does not have the money to afford. And, the government has given its commitment to IMF to remove energy subsidies. The longer it delays this commitment, the worse the pain will be at the end, for both the gurnamint and the paying consumers.
Subsidies are no more for common man. They are charging 14 -22 rupees per unit. Where is subsidy in it?
Relief is only for theives, politicians and industrialists. Nothing for mango man.inflation is already out of control.on the top gov is increasing rates of utility services. life is becoming more difficult for the middle and below middle class.
when will this gov give some relief to people?
Rate increases after 100 unit, rate file for 100 is different,200 is different and so on.Hmm rates of electricity are exorbitantly high at Rs 14-22 per unit already and what does the govt there wish to convey that middle class cant use AC if they do then they are easily going to cross 300 units cap
