First of all the Jews retained a constant presence in that land, albeit at smaller population sizes that previously. The Jews of course were thrown out by Europeans.

In fact the Jews were the largest population in Jerusalem even in the 18th century. So if you're to remain consistent, Jerusalem obviously belongs to the Jewish people.

Also it's not really to do with religion, as Zionism was a secular movement.

Simple fact is that it's the only time in history where the indigenous population that was wronged, actually got their land back. It's something that should be celebrated.

You know I live in UK. In another 2,000 years or 80 generations if my descendants mixed with the native English at the rate of once every 20 generations or that is four times over 2,000 years [statistical probability since the majority is English in UK] my decendants would have only sliver of genetics from me and their claim over 2,000 years would have whithered. Furthermore they could call themselves what they want but they would be more European [English] then Pakistani. Ditto European Jews who were more German, Polish, Belorussian etc then the orginal Jews who got thrown out.

And as regards indigenous claim why not test that out with Maori;s in New Zealand or Native Americans in USA. Those claims are only about 200 years old.
