IDF Shayetet 13 train with Navy Seals

U heard wrong then

My friend!

Finally finished Fauda. Great show. Pakistan could use a similar show since the security challenges are very much alike.

I hate it when governments / Armed Forces have too much overlap in their special operations units --- yes, most elite units should be able to perform a core set of tasks to a similar level, but after that they should all be highly specialized with minimum overlap.

In your opinion, what are the cream of the crop Israeli "Tier 1" units for land-based operations?

If there is an evil dictator in a foreign country that you want assassinated, would you send Kidon, Maktal, Maglan or some other unit?

And what if the assassination is not a dictator living in an Arab palace but a terrorist hiding in a cave in Afghanistan? Would your pick change?

What if it's a nuclear site in Iran that just got discovered and has to be sabotaged?

Mossad special units are unknown to the public and "kidon" is a name given to one of them, not sure if even this one is true.
As for assassinations and operations during war between the wars, I'd say Sayeret Matkal, Mossad and Shayetet 13 are the one I'd call.

One of their more impressive operations was the assassination of the military head of Syria's missile program.

Given the natural overlap between different units' capabilities, and God knows Israel has a lot of special operations units, how does the government decide which unit to give an assassination to?

For example, if a foreign military leader needs to be killed, would they send Kidon or Sayeret Matkal or Maglan or Duvdevan?

Internally, how do they decide whether to use Yamas or Yamam?

Are there some unique capabilities. Thanks for sharing.

kidon comes directly under Mossad while the rest you mentioned under IDF but they coordinate together
you've to know about the hammer sqds.. specialized in taking out reactors... love them

Yessir, I am aware!

Agreed.

With highly competent units like Sayeret Matkal, what gap in capability was there that necessitated further units like Maglan?
