That's odd- I tought IAF was to go for more FGFA (twin awarded) then PAK-FA in a 200-50 combination. Is he talking about trainers when he mentions twin seat or FGFA?

Today in TOI they told that IAF want's to induct 250-300 FGFA.But here ACM is talking about 214 FGFA.

Armed with perspective plans till 2027, IAF is looking at a combat fleet of 250-300 fifth-generation fighter aircraft, 126-200 medium multi-role fighter aircraft and 270 Sukhoi-30MKI fighters, as also over 100 upgraded MiG-29s and Mirage-2000s. The estimated price tag for just these jets comes to over $70 billion

well if we look at india's pattern of buying planes, for every plane they purchase, the initial order doesnt give account of the final no. they want to purchase.

They ordered 40 mirages in 1985 and went for 15 more in 2003. Similarly su 30 order was increased from 50 to 140 , to 230 and again rose to 272. Same is the case for transport aircraft( 6+6 c 130 and 10+6 c 17) and choppers( 80 mi 17 choppers ordered again)

So i am pretty sure that this order will rise to a minimum of 350 jets after iaf become used to it and create facilities to maintain this large no. Also the order will depend on the developement time of india's Lca and Mca.

What about it??? it's more than just a news, it's undergoing weapon trials, has achieved IOC and the mark II version's design freeze has also occured.... so yes tejas is also work, work and work with lots of media hype though......
