IAF Still Plagued By Accidents

oh!!mate 1st of all ,do you have any idea about PAF average flying hours /year !! Am sure its way way low to IAF ,why ? Why because of geographical POV and country size...

read the thread carefully. thats wat John said "Since you ( WJ) often say you know someone in the PAF, how about posting comparable data for PAF too? Try to give links too. Avoid paintings and cartoons"

i agree with his views. if some one can post PAF data i am sure we can make a comparison.

@Pandora:

PAF flying fewer hours per year may not matter so much. Think of it as me asking you what is the fuel consumption of your car vs. my car. You might say 'I drive only 20 kms each day whereas you drive 100 kms each day'
Yet the 2 numbers can be derived, no?

When i said i got PAF data,am sure with current regime itz not even possible to extract paf Total flying hours..

but car doing 100km is more likely to malfuctioned after certain period unlike 20km.. Simple as that .

stop brain farting about which i never claim ok ?? all i said is a common sense that we have 6 time bigger theater to act than pakistan . We living in hostile neighbourhood much bigger and much potent than PAF. We are facing 2 fronts unlike PAF ,SO its obivious that IAF doing much more sorties unlike paf . And as our migs are getting obslete they are more likely to get crashed....

yes i discussed this with my friends in HAL and IAF and they all said the same thing i.e. 2018-2020. we cannot suddenly phase out all Mig-21s and Mig-27 with out proper replacements. LCA is running behind schedule.

Sorry mistake, according to Antony its 2017, not 2016.

do u mean to say IAF has capacity to replace all 120 odd Mig 21 by LCA by 2016. no sir i dont think so. thats why this figure of 2018-2020.

According to IAF chief only one squadron of Mig-21 left to be phased out. Thats 18 to 21 fighters. Those will be phased out with in 2/3 years. But Mig-27 are gonna stay until 2017 as they are being upgraded recently. Now the maximum number of fighter in IAF service is SU-30MKI. It should more than 150.

According to today's calculations by 2016 IAF should have 310 MKI, 40 LCA, 69 Mig-29UPG, 50 Mirage-2009I, ~ 120 Jaguar DARIN-III and number of MRCA, if no new aircraft is bought and more MKI is not ordered. IAF is also considering to buy 40 new aircrafts to carry nukes.

There is another point that total flying hours also depend on rank of pilots like Flight LT -120HOURS-150HOURS
FLYING OFFICER - 150-180 OR 200
SQN LEADER- 200-250 ETC ETC.

i wd request u to maintain level of decency. u might not agree wid me, thats fine by me.

But wont the no of operational planes go down by a margin by 2017

For that time can we buy some mig 29 used by other countries just to fill the gap

"used mig 29s". i dont think indian air force will be too eager for that. given time taken by our babus in finalisisng contracts it wd be 3-5 yrs before we get the Mig-29s. that wont solve the problem.

IMHO, it is advisable for IAF to push for faster upgrade of Mig-27s. faster production of su-30 might also help in solving the problem.

O yes our mki can be produced fast in order to bridge the gap and if the mmrca no is more than 250 two vendors can be selected for fast induction

two vendors can be selected? i m not sure how it will happen. each company is making a single ac. if eurofighter wins the deal how can other vendor help in faster production.
