IAF MiG-21 crashes in Haryana

157 Mig 21-bis and Mig 21-bison are flying as of now.

This compares to 180 Su-30 MKI which form the core of the IAF fighter defence, apart from 68 Mig-29s.

Time to speed up to Tejas Mk-1. It's much powerful than Mig-21; so 40 Tejas Mk-1 might be able to fill up for the 157 Mig-21s.

All further improvements to Tejas should be left fot Tejas Mk-2, which can be added in greater numbers post 2016-17

Seriously we need to revive our policy . A separate deal should be made out without inking the deal with MRCA and LCA for a faster replacement .

Buddies ground them before 2017 or they will get expire themselves.....:agree:

Atleast they are getting to expiry date ... and because over-use of metal frame, engine etc, their age is showing.

However, nobody understands why J-10 and JF-17 crash. Are they also too old .... or the intrinsic design of these is the problem?

Just to note the last Mig-21 built in India was in 1984.

So, the airframe of the last flying Mig-21 is atleast 27 years old.

Probably, engines were subsequently replaced during overhauls at various points of time .... the airframe iself is atleast 27 years old.

Yes, time to retire them ..... they are too old.

But, they did serve us well .... in days when there were no Su 30 MKIs.

It doesnt matter whether Antony or not its all about Gandhi Family .
Is there any politician who protested on Mig21 crash openly?

its not an issue for them they are not members of defense forums :D
